Using diesel engines in non-commercial vehicles in 2014.
Using diesel engines in non-commercial vehicles in 2014.
There's nothing inherently wrong with diesels. They can be very clean and economical.
Using diesel engines in non-commercial vehicles in 2014.
But that is a commercial vehicle.

Using a poorly tuned diesel truck to be an ass in 2014
Dear fellow inhabitants of rural America,
"Rolling coal" makes you look like an absolute fucking twat to everyone except your dumb hick friends. So piss off with your stupidity.
Thanks,
everyone else
brodozers like this that never see a speck of offroad driving are like the ricers of the truck world. I'd love to have a diesel truck if it werent for faggots like this giving them bad names. same goes for japanese cars.

If you want one, get one. Fuck 'em.
Live how you want or the terrorists win.
Those comments are even more awful than usual.
Hillbillies gonna hillbilly.
What a colossal douchebag. Rolling coal should be ticketable.
Saw something about this the other day. The guys they interviewed gave the dumbest reasoning as to why they do this, such as putting Prius owners in their place and, I shit you not, securing their man-hood. They said there was some sort of pride in tuning a diesel, which, fair enough, it's a fairly nice hobby to have. But every single instance they spoke of where they rolled coal was just them essentially saying to the world "EVERYONE, TAKE A GOOD LONG LOOK AT ME, FOR I AM THE CUNTIEST MOTHERFUCKER HERE!"
I'm just learning about this phenomenon today and I'm glad I don't live anywhere near where this dumb shit happens. Them calling anyone who calls them out an environmentalist or tree hugger is pretty evident of their mind state.
Hyuck, looks like he just gave 'er tha dinnah, buck!

The thing I wonder is; how can someone be so stupid and still function independently in society?

Society caters to the lowest denominator.

Ayup. I grew up in the South so I had to put up with these morons in high school. I'm by far not an enviroyuppie, matter of fact I give precisely zero fucks about the environment as long as it isn't outright hostile to me(IE a radioactive wasteland). Yet I hate coal rolling.
I don't mind if your diesel pickup is belching out huge clouds of smoke because you're towing 17,000 pounds of shit around, that's A-OK. Perfectly normal. You're using it as a truck, it's going to do that when it's that heavily loaded. But if you're not hauling anything heavier than a case of beer and you're braketorquing it just to blow smoke on other people? Get the fuck off my planet, asswipe.
Good, the tears of cyclists give me strength.
[editline]28th June 2014[/editline]
They do the same to anyone who has ever driven a car within 500m of a cyclist.

Some people personally pull stuff ya know . . . . .
Can someone explain what is happening when "coal rolling" happens? Is it like suddenly flooding the engine with diesel so it doesn't burn properly or what?

Pretty much.

If a truck is rolling a ton of coal, its engine has very likely been modified, such as the one in this dumptruck.

The smoke is soot or partially burned diesel. The 'proper' way is by tuning your engine/exhaust to make more power with an aggressive, fuel rich tune that leaves the fuel partially unspent. However, lots of people modify their turbos to make low boost, therefore lower power so the fuel remains unspent again, but this method is purely for the aesthetic of the smoke.
I had no idea what rolling coal meant, so when I saw the title I thought it was a guy literally rolling hot coals onto cyclists

VW's Turbo Diesels are amazing motors
VW Passat Gets like 43 MPG and a 795 Mile range from that.

Step 1: Buy an older vehicle, or rip out all the emissions crap from newer ones(They have particular filters that stop the soot)
Step 2: Program the ECU to allow the injectors to spray ridiculous amounts of fuel into the engine. Diesel engines will burn as much fuel as you can shove into them, as long as a matching quantity of air goes in, so this often comes with a notable power increase if applied properly. If you're a douchebag-on-the-cheap you can just remove the tube running from your intercooler to your intake manifold, as applying turbo boost to a diesel engine leans the mixture out and lessens soot production.
Step 3: Manually force the transmission into a highway gear.
Step 4: Floor the throttle AND the brake. Full throttle dumps tons of fuel into the engine, creating the smoke, while the application of brakes keeps the vehicle speed from increasing very fast. If at all.
Step 5: Voila! You're now rolling coal like a MONUMENTAL douchebag!

get "Magic actions for youtube" and check box the "Shut the fucking comments up" button, otherwise you're going to fall into a chaotic depression with the thought whizzing around your head "Why... why did I read those shitty youtube comments.", the stress will make you fall dizzy until you pass out and die.

Step 6: Replace the emissions systems because you can't renew your license when your car won't pass an emissions check.
Around here, we have people who inspect your vehicle and pass it for money, no matter what :v: so there's tons of these. along with cracked windshields.
