Frank Miller gives his opinion on the Occupy movement
Everybody’s been too damn polite about this nonsense:
The “Occupy” movement, whether displaying itself on Wall Street or in the streets of Oakland (which has, with unspeakable cowardice, embraced it) is anything but an exercise of our blessed First Amendment. “Occupy” is nothing but a pack of louts, thieves, and rapists, an unruly mob, fed by Woodstock-era nostalgia and putrid false righteousness. These clowns can do nothing but harm America.
“Occupy” is nothing short of a clumsy, poorly-expressed attempt at anarchy, to the extent that the “movement” – HAH! Some “movement”, except if the word “bowel” is attached - is anything more than an ugly fashion statement by a bunch of iPhone, iPad wielding spoiled brats who should stop getting in the way of working people and find jobs for themselves.
This is no popular uprising. This is garbage. And goodness knows they’re spewing their garbage – both politically and physically – every which way they can find.
Wake up, pond scum. America is at war against a ruthless enemy.
Maybe, between bouts of self-pity and all the other tasty tidbits of narcissism you’ve been served up in your sheltered, comfy little worlds, you’ve heard terms like al-Qaeda and Islamicism.
And this enemy of mine — not of yours, apparently - must be getting a dark chuckle, if not an outright horselaugh - out of your vain, childish, self-destructive spectacle.
In the name of decency, go home to your parents, you losers. Go back to your mommas’ basements and play with your Lords Of Warcraft.
Or better yet, enlist for the real thing. Maybe our military could whip some of you into shape.
They might not let you babies keep your iPhones, though. Try to soldier on.
Schmucks.

Unfortunately, however much I want 'Occupy' to be a successful thing, but sadly I'm inclined to agree with him. The 'original' message was good, but the people behind it and their means of delivering it aren't. About as effective and being taken as seriously as a tantrum.
All these people ought to spend their pent us excesses of energy into finding ways of defeating the 'system' at its own game, instead of blathering about and winging to get what they want
There are better, smarter ways of doing things. I don't know if it's ignorance, laziness, or just an desire to feel like some kind of glorious revolution, (or to use this as an excuse to phaff around and have a good time) that pushes people to fuel their egos, rather than actually being clever and working towards making real changes.
Instead of waiting/pleading for Mummy and Daddy to buy you a new toy, work for it, or be resourceful and devise some other scheme to get it. Take control of your own desires. I don't want to believe we are of a culture that demands hand-outs, but it's seeming more like it lately.
The 'big corporations' are sly, cunning and resourceful. Learn from them, copy them, beat them, get your own back if you feel so wronged. You say they are few and you are many, you've got the numbers, get your shit together if you really care.
Or would you rather, or think, that bleating in the street is working?
To me, it's been less about the issues, and more about the fun and spectacle for most. To feel part of some great and glorious happening, and have great memories to tell your mates about.
Have a fucking ball, Fuck tha police! Sure is fun slinging shit up here on our moral high-ground! Occupy!
More about fuelling egos, than changing futures.
"Lords of Warcraft' though, haha
~ Unpopular opinion, ho! ~
Oh look another idiot conservative misunderstanding things and romanticizing the military. I don't know why he even brought that up, but he did. And he made everyone stupider for it.
Frank Miller is retarded and has been for awhile so the fact that he said this is hardly surprising.
I'm not really clued up on this Occupy thing. Is it a bit like the riots we had in London, where it started off as a protest for something legit and ended up just people using it as an excuse to break and steal things?
Why did the OP say the protests were a tantrum, all the while quoting a man who is essentially throwing all of his toys out of the crib

Nothing is being broken or stolen. Police are raiding peaceful protests.

He's just upset that he can't write good stories anymore.

You are seriously misinformed if you think that. Or have a bad case of wishful thinking

Please don't comment on things you obviously don't understand, thanks.
These people have spent days in a fucking mob that has a million different groups trying to make them go away, that's not an easy thing for a person's mind to handle. They're not wrong, they're exhausted. They aren't getting anywhere because they don't have the strength needed to resist breaking under the pressure that's being put on them by people who are much more powerful than they are. And some people are so desperate to not see their effort go to waste that they'll do anything to see results, even if it wasn't what they really wanted. No, they weren't wasting their time begging, they just can't go at it as long as the people against them can.
In addition to that, it's not easy to keep a movement clean of violent and destructive individuals.

Oh he's misinformed? This coming from the guy who agrees with this statement:
“Occupy” is nothing but a pack of louts, thieves, and rapists, an unruly mob, fed by Woodstock-era nostalgia and putrid false righteousness.
What a load of shit.
Islamicism.
What.
Hope this is a term exclusive to this particular brand of moron.

I clearly explained what I agreed with, how I feel. I don't agree with what he said verbatim.

Okay, then I'll quote you instead:
Instead of waiting/pleading for Mummy and Daddy to buy you a new toy, work for it, or be resourceful and devise some other scheme to get it. Take control of your own desires. I don't want to believe we are of a culture that demands hand-outs, but it's seeming more like it lately.
You continue to assert these are just ignorant lazy people asking for handouts, despite the fact that every proposed list of demands and every official statement from any quasi-official Occupy group has stood in stark contrast to that?
You are seriously misinformed if you think that. Or have a bad case of wishful thinking
You're just seeing what you want to see pal
the fact that your thread was quoting such horrible vitriol really says it all about you
it isn't even fucking news, this isn't the "post blogs you like" forum
My biggest thought on reading this was "and I should care what he thinks why...?"
Please don't comment on things you obviously don't understand, thanks.
I understand fine. I am unwillingly a part of the movement, it's a part of my day to day life, fyi. Don't be so patronising just because I have a different opinion than you.
OP is a perfect example of a horribly uneducated capitalist. It doesn't end up working the way you think, OP.
II am unwillingly a part of the movement, it's a part of my day to day life, fyi.
yeah damn those OWS protesters taking people and tying them to chairs until they protest alongside them
Who the fuck is Frank Miller.
