We can't get rid of guns in America - General

In response to the Obama gun banning thread, there is no way we can get rid of all the guns he says. It doesn't matter if something is illegal. It always ends in more violence than the first place. For example, back in the day when the Government banned alcohol. It made way more violence with gangs and moonshiners transporting alcohol and everyone still got it and the Government ended up lifting the ban as we all know. Another is drugs. Weed, heroin, crack and so on is all banned and illegal but people can still get it. Easily, very easily. If those guns were banned people would still get them. They can't contain it. I don't see how the Government always seems to overlook this.

I think that if we really wanted to reduce the crime rates we should keep our current gun laws and legalize marijuana. Too much street crime could be prevented if pot dealers weren't terrified of being busted by the 5-0. I think it would be acceptable to believe that a good percentage of gun crime involving gangs, etc is caused because there are a bunch of people stabbing each other in the back over weed.

I'd leave the country if guns were banned. Common people (Not people who get them illegally) need something to fight back, be it against home invasion or even the government.

It has been proven that a major cause of crime are poverty.

We all know if everyone had a gun there would be less shootings.

Banning guns is just stupid. Every time a new law like this is introduced, the crime rate shoots up, and everything just turns for the worse. Also, "in response to the Obama gun banning thread"...why didn't you just post this in that thread then?

I mean, if they came out and said "We're banning guns" then sent out heavy law enforcement and military to stomp out any one who disagrees or tries to bring guns into the country any way, it'd be done in a year.

I think that smoking pot is stupid, but I also think that it should be the descision of the person in question. If they want to smoke pot, I don't care if you do or don't.
