Milton Keynes school fire leaves woman and boy injured A 35-year-old woman has been flown to hospital and a six-year-old boy was injured in a fire in a science laboratory at a Milton Keynes school. Thames Valley Police were called to the incident at Hazeley Academy in Milton Keynes at about 13:10 BST on Wednesday. A woman who worked at the school was airlifted to Stoke Mandeville Hospital after suffering burns to her face and body. She is in a stable condition. The boy was also taken to hospital with superficial burn injuries to his face. He is also in a stable condition. The Health and Safety Executive have started an investigation into the case. A statement on its website says: "There has been an isolated incident in The Hazeley Academy which was dealt with by the emergency services. "All Academy children are accounted for and safe. A member of staff was taken to hospital and we will report later as to any possible disruption to the school day on Thursday." Buckinghamshire Fire Service said crews from Great Holm, Bletchley, Broughton and Aylesbury attended the scene, along with Thames Valley Police, South Central Ambulance Service and the air ambulance. A fire service spokesman said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to put out the fire, which started in a first-floor science laboratory, and a fan to clear away smoke and fumes."
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-15969742 I was there it was crazy as hell, also the 6 year old is the son of my favourite teacher. Updated with a better source
Damn, that sucks. Where were you when the explosion happened?
I remember that someone had written something about a bomb going off in one of our school's stalls. So the entire school had to go wait in buses after school, and wait to see if it was true. It wasn't.
So THAT'S where my magnesium went to!
Damn, that sucks. Where were you when the explosion happened?
I was on the floor below, I didn't hear the explosion. But the fire alarms went off and we were evacuated into the play ground I saw some of the teachers crying and I realised that it was serious
Science, how could you be so awesome and yet, so unforgiving? Best wishes to the victims, no one deserves to pay the ultimate price for what was most likely a simple mistake.

The school had no complete evacuation procedures in place at the time (teachers had a designated spot they go to once outside, but they were too close to the building), so we had to evacuate off of the school property because of the danger of the gas causing an explosion. After nearly an hour of standing in a parking lot in freezing tempetuees, we all went into a nearby ice skating rink. Which was actually COLDER than it was outside!
This almost happened in my 8th grade science class. My dumb ass teacher left a gas nozzle on for bunson burners with nothing attached to it. If I didn't shut it if it would have ignited from the yankee candle she had burning ~15' away.
"air ambulance"
"air ambulance"
a helicopter
"air ambulance"
Everyone has at least one. They use them when you need to get the patient to hospital quickly.
So THAT'S where my magnesium went to!
Where's the joke
...and thermal imaging cameras to disperse the gasses
Thermal vision Googles for christ sake.

We all waited on the football stadium and bleachers until everything was clear. They checked lockers, sewers under the school, everything BUT the bleachers we were on. Way to go, guys. Good thing that A) It wasn't real and B) If it was the guy wasn't smart enough
The only thing bad that has ever happened in my school was the chemistry teacher did a little fire trick and accidentally caused half of the god damn firemen to come over in their truck and do nothing.
Thermal vision Googles for christ sake.
Yeah this whole article was written badly.
This reminds me of one time in seventh grade. One unfortunate kid wasn't wearing his safety goggles when my teacher was demonstrating what happens when you drop a brick of raw Sodium in a beaker of water. Thankfully the guy wore glasses anyway and just cracked the lens a bit. Otherwise that teacher probably would have been sued back to the stone age.
That looks like a nice school.

someone did some science I see
