What it should sound like
Strange buzzer sound broadcasted since at least 1982 on some obscure shortwave frequency. The noise is apparently something held up to a live microphone rather than a recording, before 2010 only three voice messages were ever broadcast, first one on Christmas Eve 1997. Each time a voice comes on and lists several Russian names and numbers before returning to the foghorn. It is clearly becoming more active after remaining quiet during the entire Cold War
- no one knows where it's broadcasted from
- no one knows what it's for
- noise goes dead today
It's the Illuminati.
Probably for the same reasons any other old Military anything from the Cold War goes down.

The nukes have launched. We are all doomed.

They have to get their hydrogen from the Sun. That's why it's taking so long.
The unknown commited an out of ordinary action resulting in unknown consequences.
The only thing to be afraid of here is fear itself.
Did anyone record the outage?

So what you're saying is you want to hear... silence?
I dont know if its down or not, I dont really want to hear it before going to bed, even though now I already have the noise playing in my head. Anyways, i dont think Id trust a stream for a radio transmission (because, maybe its the streams fault?). If nobody else could hear anything from other radios or other gadgets, then there'd be a more solid confirmation
So what you're saying is you want to hear... silence?
Not necessarily. There could have been something missed.
Not necessarily. There could have been something missed.
No it was just silence.
Do people actually sit around and monitor this thing? Does anybody even know what it's actually used for?

Most likely transmitting One-Time-Pads to KGB agents.
People have been reporting music and voices being heard in the past hour
So does anyone have a legitimate explanation as to what it is and its purpose?

Many have speculated, but it isn't known for sure what UVB-76's purpose is.

It's an atmospheric research station, no clue what the radio signal is for. But if it was supposed to be secret, it wouldn't be openly broadcasting like this. Don't get worked up over it.
This is not the first time it has gone down.
