Here we go
I laughed more than I should have when he said he got it from a second hand shop.
Eugh that Wipeout ripoff
The only reason I'd buy one of these is because of running emulators.. Too bad it's glitchy..
i dont blame the original owner for selling it to a secondhand shop, thats where it belongs tbh
I quite liked this. HIs underlying points were pretty key.
"You got what you wanted and paid for, and now you're annoyed that is was what you asked for."
I wonder how much he paid for it?

I suppose it depends if he means a charity shop or somewhere like Cash Converters where people go to sell their hot goods that they've stolen.
So, can i find a PS4 in a cash converter when it comes out then?
Don't we have a thread for this?
I love all of Ashen's videos, he's so funny with the shit he says
But seriously, on the fact of the Ouya, why was this so popular and now it's hated?

Everyone thought it'd be cool but then realised it was literally just a mid to low-end phone in a box that you can't even use as a phone and can just play phone games on without the proper input methods it was designed for (i.e. a phone touchscreen). I'm not sure what people expected.

It's possible to accidentally turn on the Ouya's airplane mode and make it so it won't talk to the controllers.
The only way to fix it is to connect a USB mouse.

People heard $99 console and jumped on it. I heard absolutely no security and never looked back. They pretty much condone piracy with this console.
They made so much money from Kickstarter, they should have at least upped the hardware (even at a slight price raise)
It doesn't only get shat on because of what it does, but it does what it does terribly. It's not even good at what the developers clearly said it was capable of.

They did, apparently. :v:
The specs are still atrocious.
I feel really bad for the ouya. It so desperately wants to be a console, but it just can't :(
I don't get why people were disappointed with the OUYA.
They wanted an Android console that plays phone games on your TV.
And they got an Android console that plays phone games on your TV.
They wanted a dumb thing and got a dumb thing.

Only once we had an Android console that plays phone games on your TV did we realize what a terrible idea an Android console that plays phone games on your TV was.
best place to play phone games
on a phone
lol was that so hard?

i have mine and i honestly like it more than expected.
all i honestly expected was a android tablet that only can plug into your tv that comes with a controller. also the controller has a touch screen in the middle if you want to emulate touch screens.
the night i got it had fun with a group of people with the games they had on it. My personal favorite of the ouya is No Brakes Valet, where your job is to park cars that speed into a parking lot without crashing into the other cars you put in or walls. best part it's 100% free with no price.

I still have fun with it today and i can use it as a twitch tv streaming device on my tv instead of bringing in my computer.
But if i have to list some minus points about the ouya, it has to be the triggers on the controller feel like your literally pushing down on springs and the initial launch list of good games is a bit small but i expect that to grow over time like usual. there's also some games that half ass the ouya porting (only encountered one so far and it's a plane flying game.)

Nobody realized they wanted a dumb thing until they got it, except the people who just never wanted it to begin with.

I've seen similiar systems to the Ouya on chinese websites for the past few years, and actually had the same thoughs as the people who donated to the kickstarter.
I though It'd be a machine with top of the line ARM hardware, that'd be on scale with todays consoles, didn't expect it to only play Angry Birds and the like.
could you get Metal Gear Solid Mobile for this.?

It was a good idea but the execution is fucking terrible.
It's a console that works worse than an actual android phone, so the entire point is defeated.

It's cheaper, not sure what people expected :v:
I didn't even know what an Ouya was until this video.

Not that it's anything worth knowing about
I would rather just get a Rasberry Pi for XBMC and emulators. If I ever feel the need to play Android games on my TV, I'll just plug in my S3.
people seem to have this notion that consoles are expensive because big bad meanie companies overprice them, when in reality, thats just how much they need to cost to break a profit
$100~ and yet you're getting a console significantly weaker than most modern cellphones
i dont honestly know what people expected, the more you want it to do, the more its going to cost, and they have to sacrifice a lot of hardware in order to get it in that low price range that they use as their marketing kick
all they can do is optimize the fuck out of it, but this is what people wanted on kickstarter, and now that they got it, maybe they realize that just because something is designed with open source in mind, it doesnt instantly make it superior to the alternatives
if people want to play emulators and cheap knockoffs of popular games, why not just hook up their much-more-powerful PCs to the TV?
