Yesterday Regina Spektor released her fifth album "Far" and it's fantastic. While her new album is obviously far more mainstream than her previous works her bizarre, distinct, anti-folk sound is still there. The songs "Blue Lips", "The Calculation", "One More Time With Feeling" and "Dance Anthem of the 80s" really stand out and are, in my opinion, the bet songs on the album. In less than one day "Far" has made it into iTunes top albums in both the United States and the UK and I highly suggest you get your hands on it as soon as possible. Regina is so good and I will so buy this record.
Regina never fails to make good songs. this albums as good as the others :D I'm so glad she's playing Latitude this year!
Jesus christ her voice is annoying.
Jesus christ her voice is annoying.
Yeah, I hate talent.
Yeah, I hate talent.
Sorry for having an opinion.
Sorry for having an opinion.
It's okay, I forgive you.
It took me a while to actually like her. She is really talented though.
-snip-
Bump'd Because I'm seeing her in concert on the 15th So there. :D
I met her in person at the Austin City Limits event a few years back. She wasn't playing, she was just partying with everyone else. It wasn't until someone linked me a youtube clip of her playing that I realized who I had met. She appears regularly on my constantly evolving nightly playlist.
You met her, and you didn't even know it? You're an ass hole. :P No, but seriously I'm jealous. :v:
I love her. The way she writes the songs that make them catchy but very well made.
I think I love Regina Spektor.
I think I love Regina Spektor.
Welcome to the club.
I've listened to her stuff since her first album. 'Us' is my favorite song.
Samson is my favorite, love it to pieces.
'Us" is a really great song. I think Far is her best album though, I can't think of one song that I don't like off of it. I just love how she puts so much emotion into all of her songs. I watch live videos of her a lot and even though she's probably sang those same songs a million times... You can still feel the meaning behind every word. A good example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuAevpZQAIs&feature=channel_page
I wish Human of the Year was a b-side instead of Time is all Around, though.

It would be the same effect now if I ran into a new-age country music star - I wouldn't be able to tell them from anyone else.
Not to derail the thread, but Fiona Apple keeps coming up on my pandora on the Regina Spektor channel. Thought that maybe you guys might appreciate her more than the metalheads 2 threads down. Regina Spektor is just another one of those artists who is listened to by teenage girls who drive around in their parents fancy car and drink starbucks because they think it's cool to do that and wear uggs, lululemon pants and american apparel hoodies and think they're all hip and indie.

no one gives a shit how long you've been listening to her you don't know shit about her fanbase or what her music is about
no one gives a shit how long you've been listening to her you don't know shit about her fanbase or what her music is about
People like you are the reason why I don't like regina spektor anymore.
People like you are the reason why I don't like regina spektor anymore.
elaborate, dickfart
elaborate, dickfart
I used to really like her music, but as she began to release more albums, idiots started to come along and pretend like they're her number 1 fan who know everything there is to know about her, but really only like her because it's cool to do so. [editline]01:42PM[/editline] you also really like to put the word 'dick' into compound words.
