Kanna , sceletium tortuosa, is a psychoactive herb that has mood-lifting and antianxiety effects. In larger doses, it supposedly causes euphoria, which is why I'm getting it; I'm a heavy opiate user trying to find something else to get my fix on. I bought the 5:1 powdered extract from shaman's garden, which seems to have good reviews and has easy-to-find discount codes. I'm planning on insufflating it. I don't know how well it's going to work for me. I'm on an SSRI, which vendors say should not be used concomitantly with kanna. But I'm guessing that the biggest risk is serotonin syndrome, and I'm wagering I can avoid this if I'm careful. I could use an increase in my SSRI intake anyway. Anyway, anyone here ever use kanna? How'd it work for you - especially if you took it with an SSRI? EDIT: After reading on bluelight's forums, I may actually stop my antidepressant and switch to kanna for a day, see what that does for me. At the worst, it doesn't work and I have a couple bad days, but at best, I find a psychoactive alternative to antidepressants, which would fucking rock. For a lot of people it seems to be more of a stimulant when snorted and more of a sedative when smoked, and goes well with cannabis, so I might end up having a versatile way to improve my mood chemically. I'm schizoaffective by the way, so I suffer from both chronic mood and thought disorder. Mainly depressive and paranoid. Right now I'm having so many medical issues that I'm suffering in school. Most days I don't even have the motivation to get out of bed. I've been spending huge amounts on opiates and cannabis just to feel human enough to go to class. Drugs are actually the reason I'm not failing out of college. So it's really vital that I find something I can sustainably improve my mood with. EDIT: Well I've spent my money for a week. Just bought some Bali kratom too, hopefully that'll help with the opiate cravings.
smoked it a few times trough my bong. it gets u buzzed and u wont be hungry for a while. but if ur looking for something to improve ur mood for a longer period with drugs, look into psychedelic therapy
Just got my kanna. I snorted a couple 2cm lines, a really small amount, and within fifteen minutes was feeling relaxed and slightly euphoric. It also suppressed my appetite. I have a kind of a buzz, too, like the heightened awareness that a stimulant brings. It's really cool stuff! No burn and not a bad drip, though it left my nose kinda itchy. Anyway, it's the perfect wakeup drug, I'll be using it to motivate myself to get out of bed in the morning and ease the transition between sleep and awake.
Have you ever tried/considered/heard of BINAURAL BEATS to do this?
Yeah. I'll stick to drugs. I'd rather snort a couple lines and be done with it than listen to creechy digital noise for half an hour, especially when I have nothing to show for the latter save a headache. Also, the dosage for kanna is ridiculously tiny. I have a feeling this three grams I got is going to last for quite awhile. Though the stuff I got seems to be kanna extract sprayed onto incense. It doesn't seem to have any adverse effects on my nose, save that everything smells like incense for a half an hour. Still makes me question how good of an idea it is to snort it. I know another supplier that seems way more legit - I might try their product if I order again.
:siren: you must wait 14 days after your SSRI's before consuming conflicting drugs! :siren:
:siren: you must wait 14 days after your SSRI's before consuming conflicting drugs! :siren:
It's not that big a deal. The risk of serotonin syndrome is overhyped and you'll be hard pressed to find a case of kanna interacting with SSRIs. There's no definitive proof that it's an SSRI itself, either. I was aware of this claim before I tried the drug, and as I expected I've had no adverse interactions with my medication. It might be harmful in higher doses, or maybe the batch I got isn't that strong, but at the small dosage ranges I use, there seems to be little to no risk. I won't rule out the possibility of serotonin syndrome, but I'm guessing it works kinda like dextromethorphan - in first and second plateau doses, I get no adverse effects, though I have experienced mild serotonin syndrome from higher doses.
Your not a doctor and neither am I better safe then sorry when it comes to mixing drugs.
