He pretty much [I]is[/I] above the law, due to being extremely wealthy and famous. In our current legal system, if you have enough money and/or fame, you're untouchable by anyone who isn't just as rich/famous and hateful towards you. Unless you commit murder or piss off another untouchable person like yourself, you're invincible. He's certainly delusional in his attempts to look manly and tough, as well as his choice of clothing, but he's very well aware that he can buy his way out of anything short of murder.
