An American general was killed today and 15 other soldiers wounded in an attack at a military academy in Afghanistan today.
The incident happened at Camp Qargha where Afghan military officers were being trained when a gunman wearing an Afghan army uniform turned his weapon against Americans and other Afghans, ABC News has learned.
A U.S. official described the shooting victim as a two star major general, the highest ranking official to be killed in the Afghanistan war. American generals usually have their security detail.
Attacking schools! What monsters.
I say we keep the lethal weapons away from them until the end of academy. Too many green on blue attacks and assholes wearing uniforms and attacking us. Bullshit.
Well shite.
Supposedly a German 1-star was among the wounded. To be honest I'm amazed more senior NATO officers haven't been assassinated like this.

Their security detail is usually pretty extensive. This was one of the rare occasions where it wasn't and it's unfortunate the nutcase was there at the right (wrong) time.
The taliban had managed to find the one weakness for the NATO forces there, which was to blend in with the Afghan Army. Seeing as how the Afghan Army takes up anyone signing up, I'm pretty sure its likely there's a shitload of taliban in its ranks. And this wasn't uncommon, there were already many reports of afghan soldiers turning on NATO/Afghan forces.

They don't literally "take anyone". I know you know this. I'm just clarifying for others.
I bet there's video of this. I'm curious to see how this played out. I'm sure this type of incident must be expected any time anyone of high rank is around. Someone must have screwed up big time if there were German and US generals around and this guy still got through with a weapon.
1 General killed, 2 Generals wounded, and 8 US soldiers wounded.

the amount of times an Afghan soldier has opened fire on US troops is getting to be ridiculous

Well its not just US troops. Others have been affected.
