"police responded to report of man w/ gun inside building on Mass Ave. Police searched building w/ negative results. Will update w/ more info."
Well, shit. I can only hope it does turn out to be a false alarm.
oh god, not again
Scene is clear. Call unfounded. No threat to public safety in #CambMA #MIT
https://twitter.com/CambridgePolice
Alright then, let's pack up and go home
At MIT? An ordinary firearm? Aha ha ha ha ha! Anything less that a photon laser will be vaporized by freshmen.

Hearing reports of the shooter being taken down by a grad student with a "prototype plasma weapon".
Those comments cheered me up from reading the other comments.
Similar thing happened yesterday where I go to school, someone left a cardboard box full of old hard drives in an alleyway behind our engineering library and the bomb squad got called and campus got shut down. False alarm, of course.
Those comments cheered me up from reading the other comments.
"Photon laser", that's a bit like saying bullet-firing gun
We're too afraid of fear.
We're too afraid of fear.
As I've said time and time after again, it's always better to be safe than sorry.
We're too afraid of fear.
I think we're too afraid of fearing fear. [editline]23rd February 2013[/editline] Or maybe too afraid of fearing fearing fear.
We're too afraid of fear.
I'd be too afraid of my life ending in an instant.
It was probably a rake or a camera or something.
It's just Freeman and his suit, don't mind him

False alarm, of course.
Someone left a tiny box of sand near the cafeteria in my school a few years ago. of course they thought it was a bomb
I think we're too afraid of fearing fear. [editline]23rd February 2013[/editline] Or maybe too afraid of fearing fearing fear.
the only thing we have to fear is fearing fearing fear itself. [editline]23rd February 2013[/editline] fear doesn't look like a word anymore
Why do I get the feeling it was a guy carrying PVC tubing while wearing a backpack?
I think we're too afraid of fearing fear. [editline]23rd February 2013[/editline] Or maybe too afraid of fearing fearing fear.
I'm afraid you're too fearful of fearing fear... This phobia is known as MetisPhobia and can be treated.
Why do I get the feeling it was a guy carrying PVC tubing while wearing a backpack?
This is my BROOMSTICK!
I liked how we jumped the thread in anticipation of possible violence we can view in almost realtime from behind our screens instead of acknowledging that we can't do shit and media attention creates more wackos trying to become anti-heros.
we can't do shit
Not with that attitude.
It's just Freeman and his suit, don't mind him
That MIT education really pays for itself.
As I've said time and time after again, it's always better to be safe than sorry.
I wish we didn't have to do this period ever. I wish we didn't HAVE to send anyone to check out a bomb. I wish we didn't HAVE to be afraid of some fucking pussy kid with a loaded gun. But sadly, we do, and like you said... it sure as hell is better to be safe than sorry. that being said, "Nobody died being too safe" is a terrible quote because it doesn't matter how safe you act, you always have that chance of burning yourself even though you have an extra layer of leather.
Honestly, I'm surprised they don't have the Tesla-tower defense array up yet.
Gordon Freeman joke.
Honestly, I'm surprised they don't have the Tesla-tower defense array up yet.
Needlessly complex. You just hire freshmen to stand on the roof with a gun.
This was just a warning, hell be back shooting.
Needlessly complex. You just hire freshmen to stand on the roof with a gun.
Yeah but then they take potshots at their Chem/Physics TA's and it's just messy v:v:v
