I'm posting this about because it's good music and good music shouldn't die just because some people want royalties for playing a cowbell on one track.
My dad told me that in the mid-90s, he was part of this online system where musicians could play together, and at that time it was all new, unique and awesome. He said that the entire system had been set up and paid for by someone called Willy Henshall, with a couple of other people whose name he couldn't remember, in order to do something special and Pave The Way™ as it were. After a while and lots of jams had been made, he got them all together, picked 30 of the best ones, mixed them professionally with his engineer mates in his recording studio and secured a record deal, with an eye to regaining all the money he had put in to the project. So far, so good.
Apparently, at this point a lot of contributors suddenly sprouted Lawyers, who began picking over the deal, to ensure that their clients would get the correct cut of the 39p a track. After a month, the record company said "well we've had enough." and pulled the record deal.
The project collapsed, reborn a year or two later as a subscription service.
The album was never released, but preview copies were still sent out, and my dad got one.
Now you too can have it.
I present the album 'Res Rocket Surfer', in all it's unfinalised glory and with iTunes cover art made by me in paint.
