So I've noticed that's been going on for a pretty long time now. Four times just in the creative drawings-thread going back 20 pages I've noticed that nightwing has drawn his characters all in the same position, and I'm sure I could find even more cases of it in a couple of the interactive threads that our comrade nightwing has posted in. It's very easy to fall into a comfortable position where you draw certain poses over and over without really thinking about it, mostly because it's well, comfortable to do what you know you can do. This isn't a good thing however, you want to progress and I believe that one should always tread upon paths not yet walked on. So, here's what I want you to do ; 1) Draw me a female character. You've drawn males for a very long time (in fact, I can't remember if you have ever drawn a female character) and I think it's due time you do so. Only drawing one of the two sexes is a bad thing because it stops you in the tracks of artistic development, and I'm pretty sure you want to develop as an artist. No, I know you want to develop as an artist because you've always asked for CC on your pieces and you've changed accordingly. So now it's time to test your wings and do something completely new. You may draw her with clothes if you so please. I expect you to spend atleast three(3) hours on this. Full body ofcourse. A bonus if you use this character in the below challenge ; 2) Draw me a Character Sheet with the poses below ; x) Prone position I want you to draw any of your characters in a prone position. You may also make a completely new one if you want to. x) Running position I think this one is pretty self explationary, I want you to draw a character as if he/she's running. I want some action in this picture, he/she is supposed to be running for his/her life, not just an everyday stroll. x) Weightlifting position I want you to draw someone working out, lifting weights. I want him/her to have a tank top so that you can see the muscles working, both on the arms and the chest. Remember to watch reference pictures for this one, because muscles work differently when being pushed to the limit! x) Falling position Sometimes the character won't have any way of stabilizing him/herself to the ground or any object. This one is going to be a tough one because there are plenty of ways someone can fall down and the body reacts differently depending on plenty of variables. It could be falling from a chair, falling down becase he/she is tripped or free falling from a high object. It's all up to you. I think in this one you should spend AT LEAST one(1) hour on each position, because you are going to spend a lot of time looking at the reference pictures. A general rule of thumb when drawing from reference pictures is that you should draw 5 seconds and look at the reference picture 10 seconds, this can obviously vary depending on what you draw but nonetheless, it's important to look and try to understand why the muscles work the way they do when lying down, why the body is acting the way it does when running, how it all works when you lift weights and why the body tries to stabilize itself when it's falling. Holidays are coming up so I know plenty of people go away during said holidays so I think it would be fair to give you until January the 7th, 2011 to finish this. Good luck!
I'd make a comment on your way of taking control around here but I've already done it a few times. Instead, I'll make a comment of you layin' down the law. Gregah layin' down the law.
Jesus all these challanges are scaring me. :frown: Soon everyone will have to rise to one

So no need to worry :)
Ah ok, well I haven't made my art dump yet, so that relieves me
I'm glad I don't have a challenge :v:
These challenges are essential, man up bro :flex:
Ok, give me a minute..... Yeh man, these challanges are easy as shit man. Man I can't wait until the man gives me one. Man. :brofist:
:allears:
Oh god no...
Well I knew this one was comin'.
So now it's time to test your wings and do something completely new.
I see what you did there. I'll begin immediately. Also, I'm hopefully going to get a tablet for Christmas. So that will really change things because I draw A LOT better with pencil and paper.
Well, actually, it'll take some adjusting to. A tablet is pretty different from pencil and paper.
It's different from person to person. I got the hang of it right away and improved quickly :D
It's different from person to person. I got the hang of it right away and improved quickly :D
Well damn, you're lucky then. I remember I could barely make a proper line when I first got it. Alright, I'm done derailing the thread.
Female done I think. Do I have to color it?
Looks like a man with boobs imo :v:
Her body looks really masculine, I think you should try to form her hips so that they are larger than they are now. I also think that the short jagged hair makes her look more masculine too, and so does the facial paint too. Actually I think it lies mostly in the face, it looks like you drew a female body but gave her a male head. Check out this page below : http://www.fotolia.com/id/7164945 No need to colour it, unless you want to. :)
Female done I think. pic Do I have to color it?
No but you need to make it look like a female. [editline]3rd December 2010[/editline] Gregah, dammit, you ninja'd me.
And mattyyy ninja'd me, you just got double ninja'd :(
Damn... :ninja: :ninja:
Better?
the spine looks a bit jutting there particularly if you look at her right hand also the face structure is still a bit uncanny
The left side curves in too much and the head still looks weird. :v: [editline]3rd December 2010[/editline]
And mattyyy ninja'd me, you just got double ninja'd :(
 It looks a lot better without the shit on his/her chin.
What Mattyyy said, and I think you should just redo the head completely. Give her a more gracious jaw, and remember that she stares at the viewer so the profile of the nose should be different.
Oh jesus thats just a guy with balloons in his shirt not gonna lie you dropped the ball on that one sport
Oh jesus thats just a guy with balloons in his shirt not gonna lie you dropped the ball on that one sport
And now that my friends, is why I don't draw females. They always end up very manly. Anyway about the rest of the body? I think he shoulders are too thick.
Man it's the face it looks like a really manly guy here look ill show you hold on [editline]3rd December 2010[/editline] look it really dosent look THAT awkward. Female faces are supposed to look FEMININE [editline]3rd December 2010[/editline] plus, why does it have a beard?
plus, why does it have a beard?
Regardless of masculinity, I think nightwing did a great job on it.
