Those wanting to purchase a violent video game could soon be paying extra taxes for them. It’s a new plan to fight childhood obesity and bullying in Oklahoma.A state lawmaker wants to put a 1 percent tax premium on every video game with a teen, mature, or adult only rating.

WHAAAAAAAT
“Violent video games contribute to some of our societal problems like obesity and bullying, but because they raise a lot of revenue, they can also provide part of the solution,” said Fourkiller.Fourkiller said half of the money would go into a bullying prevention fund and the other half would go to help get kids playing outside.
lol. I live in Illinois, which I'm pretty sure is the only state with required Physical Education in school
pretty sure it doesn't do jack shit.
Representative William Fourkiller is proposing the law.
king idiot of February 2012 nominee.
VAT isn't enough?
Surely it would be reasonable to tax violent movies too, then.
Only if we get a tax on violent movies, music, books, and every other artistic medium.
Childhood obesity?
Seriously?
I want to see the studies done on that.
Only if we include a tax on absolutely everything else that's even remotely violent.
What utter biased bullshit.
It’s a new plan to fight childhood obesity and bullying in Oklahoma.
dumb plan. it wont work.
One percent tax premium? That doesn't sound too much.
Wouldn't taxing fast food joints be a better idea?
dumb plan. it wont work.
you know they don't actually care right
money is money
40 cent big whoop
I live in Illinois, which I'm pretty sure is the only state with required Physical Education in school
wait, really? Only one state?
I propose an opposite tax to this. Take a single penny and add it to the price of every E-rated game. At the end of every year, give all the money to a children's charity.
Do the same for candy and shit if they're actually concerned about obesity
wait, really? Only one state?
I'm pretty sure it's required for graduation in oklahoma
Taxing violent videogames?
Getting rid of obesity and bullying?

This would just increase piracy of violent videogames
People who play non-violent videogames grow up as fat cunts and bullies too
Why are there so many fucking moronic assholes in policymaking positions?
I'd love to know where half the idiots in power in this damn country get their "facts" from.
What is video game has to do with bullying must bullies i know dont play video games at all they are too busy getting into a fight.
Surely if they are linking games to obesity, why just violent video games?
This whole thing makes no sense.
could one possibly make a dumber tax?
Tax people for not buying videogames
can we get taxes on weapons too? because they provoke violence!!
I think we should put a tax on state lawmakers. To prevent stupid stupid taxes.
I think we should put a tax on state lawmakers. To prevent stupid stupid taxes.
Deficit eliminated during a single term.
can we get taxes on weapons too? because they provoke violence!!
There already is?
Also, Pennsylvania requires Phys Ed to graduate.
Playing violent video games makes you fat now? Then how come I'm thin? Not enough Manhunt?
Playing violent video games makes you fat now? Then how come I'm thin? Not enough Manhunt?
All those brutal decapitations go straight to your hips.
“Violent video games contribute to some of our societal problems like obesity and bullying,
WHAT? How does that even....
For fuck sake. This is stupid.
Violent games do not cause obesity and bullying.
I'm pretty sure obesity is caused by lifestyle.
Don't feed your kids chips, chips, chips and coke and they wont be fat, no matter how much they play games.
It's like everyone is promoting piracy these days.
There is no reason for this.
Childhood obesity is not due to violent videogames, it is because parents let their children play videogames all day every day and not getting them away from them to do anything else.
Bullying? I don't see how that is due to violence in videogames, far more likely due to racism and the like in videogames and movies and other forms of entertainment.
tl;dr
