Hi venn177 here with a proper Billy Mays Megathread !
In honor of the man himself, the rest of this thread will be in bold.

July 20, 1958 - June 28, 2009
William Darrell Mays, Jr. was the only man who could talk through a muted TV, the only man who had bold tags around everything he said, the only man with a beard as bold as his personality.
Through school, his only notable accomplishment was being a linebacker in college, during which he was able to hold off the whole opposing team by just yelling. He eventually dropped out, citing he didn't want to ruin his voice in the event that he would need it later in life.
He moved to Atlantic City, where he sold his first As Seen On TV product, the Washmatik portable washing device. It was here he was taught how to pitch products by the Great Old Ones. This skills would be valuable for the rest of his life.
For the next 12 years, he traveled all across the US, selling all kinds of products, perfecting his pitching ability.
In 1993, he got the job of a lifetime: Doing the sales pitch for OxiClean and other cleaners on HSN. Sales jumped dramatically after his first day, because of his perfected pitching ability. He would spend the rest of his life pitching cleaning products and other products that gave him lots of money to yell at people to buy. He always used the products he promoted, because they were never scams.
Just last year, only months before his death, the Discovery Channel launched the show PitchMen, giving the world new insight into how amazing Billy's job was, along with fellow pitchman and friend Anthony Sullivan.
He was found dead on June 28, 2009, in his home in Tampa, Florida. The last episode of PitchMen chronicled his history and life, showing him to be the greatest person to ever live.
His son will carry on the tradition, joining Anthony Sullivan for season 2 of PitchMen. Hopefully the boldness of Billy's voice will be passed down, and the family legacy live forever.

Well no offence but all he did was make adverts.
Does this mean you're going to make one for Churchill, the direct line telephone, the gocompare guy, (compare) the meerkat and any other main advert creator?
He's a nice guy and all but I don't see why people idolise him so much. Sorry.
I was sad when he lost his life.

It was mostly his voice.
And his generosity.
And beard of course

Pitchman was such an amazing show, it was amazing to see peoples' live's change with a simple product and Billy and Anthony gave them a chance to live a dream.
Quit being an asshole
Actually I was trying to put it as nicely as I could :(
I was more sad about billy mays dying than michael jackson
Ok not really, but i was still pretty sad
Two personal facts about Billy Mays
1) I actually grieved his loss more than that of Michael Jackspm
2) He was also pitching a medical insurance plan. It was airing RIGHT BEFORE HE FUCKING DROPPED DEAD. I was filled with ironic death glee
Shed a single tear.
Here are my opinions on billy mays and his fandom on the internet
1) His products were at best mediocre
2) To say he was a "hero" in any sense is a mockery of the word 'hero'. If you're going to call anyone a hero, let it actually be someone who risks there life for others, such as police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and soldiers overseas. Don't be a fucking idiot and call someone who sells products on a show a "hero"
3) The only reason why so many people on the internet care about him is because his loud yelling caused some people to make funny sound clips about him, and then everyone got caught in the bandwagon effect and held him up to be god.
4) His autopsy showed that he was on several different drugs, some of which were bad for his heart. Cocaine and other narcotics contributed heavily to his heart problems. He didn't die in a burning building, he didn't die saving a puppy from a river, he didn't die for his team in iraq, why the fuck are you giving him publicity and your utmost respect while you give the true heros dumb insensitive news puns? The internet as a whole is just one bulging hypocritical asshole.
Thank you.

You do know that you here are insulting a fanbase? You cannot win.
I didn't understand why people hated him so much. He had a great way of getting your attention. I also loved the fan made dubs on him.
According to the Discovery site, the new season starts next Thursday for PitchMen.
HI, BILLY MAYS HERE WITH A WAY TO REMIND YOU OF ME, NO MATTER WHAT.
Although as a Brit, I never really saw his adverts, I must admit he was a cool guy. Over in England, we don't really have people in physical form advertising stuff too often. RIP Bill.
Yeah. Probably the most relate-able thing we have in Britian is Barry Scott, but he only sells cleaners. Billy Mays sold so many products and they are actually pretty much all really good products too. I would definitely buy some Mighty Putty at some point.
