ADSS - Your motherfuckin' dream game!
ADSS is an upcoming game from Implode Studios. Although they have been hazy about the details, they have let loose that it's coming in early-mid 2012. [release]STORY One thing that makes ADSS unique to other games is that there are multiple base storylines to go down, all of which are multi-choice and open ended. They haven't released any details about the apocylypse, except that it was some sort of unique bomb, with a special radiation wavelength that only penetrated modern house walls, so about 80% of the population died. Those who were in older buildings during the bomb drops survived. So far, they have only released one story fully(?), and have only given the title of the other two. Highschool Student Story You are just another student in large city highschool, until the bombs dropped. It wasn't like any sound you've ever heard before, like somebody shot a gun right next to your ear. After the bombs drop, most of the school population dies despite the fact that the school is built on old foundation. All the adults have either died, fled or went insane. The students have taken over, and begins splitting into faction groups. You have the choice to attempt to become the leader of a faction while they're being created, create your own, or attempt a hostile or political takeover of another. Or, you could go out on your own, maybe even recruit a few people and find a place to stay. Either way, all outcomes depend on your attributes and skills chosen pregame, and the players own reactions to the situation. Hospital Nurse Story No description yet! Grocery Store Manager Story No description yet! [/release] [release]
Mechanics
One of the things Implode has said about the game is that they want lots of emphasis on proper game mechanics, polished until you can see your reflection in them. They want to be diverse, various yet consistent with their nature. [release]Crafting The devs have said they want an expansive and dynamic crafting and modification system. You will be able to take apart most, if not all, objects and use their parts to make or modify another object in the 'intuitive' crafting menu. The player will supposedly be able to find a picket fence, break down a segment of it right there (because you can't carry around a fence segment), and use the new materials to create a nailboard. You will then be able disassemble the spike board and build something else with it (note that making the nail board would not use all the materials from the fence segment). There will be different disciplines of crafting, from basic barricades to zip guns to bear traps, all of which unlock and advance in an experience system. The higher your ability, the more efficiently you can extract materials from objects. Skills will definitely interact with eachother. Known Crafting Disciplines (bold=definitely, italic bold=hinted) Building - Barricades to fences to workbenches to bed frames to houses. Traps - From spike pits to bear traps to homemade landmines. Cloth worker/Weaving - Make clothing, mattresses, and other clothing items(?). Gun Smith - Wooden zip guns to harpoon launchers to crafting bullets. Electrnoics - Wiring things, this skill will probably determine the outcome of many other crafting disciplines involving partial electronics. There hasn't been any hints as to what you'll be able to craft with this skill. Chemistry - Making fuel to gunpowder to poison. This discipline will help you a lot on your travels. Note these are NOT all of the disciplines that will be in the game, only the ones the general public know about/have been hinted to. [/release] [release]
Combat
The developers have said that the game will not be largely combat based. The combat will be realtime, and "similar to Oblivion, except less obnoxious and a lot less sperging, with more clean control". There is (apparently) not much done with combat at the time. Let's hope they don't wait till the end when they don't have much time left. [/release] [release]
Health
Health, as the developers put it, "will be realistic enough to get the job done, but won't get in the way too much." It will have a realistic limb damage, bleeding, infections and other terrible things, all of which can be treated with medical tools, professional or improvised. Weapons or arrow heads (there will be bows and arrows!!) can be poisoned, but unlike most games, this will not cause immediate damage. It will cause slow damage over time a few minutes after they have been poisoned. Limbs can be broken, disabling that hand. Legs can be broken, one leg broken slows you down, a second leg broken forces you to crawl. Broken limbs can be set or casted if you somehow find the ability to cast limbs. Not setting or casting them will cause them to heal much more slowly, and can heal improperly, giving you permanent(?) defects to that limb. You put a lot of thought into this just to have some one look at a picture of a woman in glasses for 2 seconds...
