RIP my computer
Too windy.
RIP my computer
RIP my wallet
The second stage looked better than the third to me. Maybe if they carry on tweaking the physics it'll end up looking more lifelike, but who knows
Thats cool as hell... Really adds that brute threat
Too windy.
I guess we'll get a more realistic iteration a few years down the line, but still amazing tech.
Still no match for the CoD dog model.
It is almost like they have never looked at a dog run before. Its hair doesn't bounce around like that unless it is a lot longer, it usually sort of sticks down to the dog and looks a lot more rigid.
That wolf has some silky smooth hair.
"Pretty fricken scary" More like pretty fricken adorable I'll take 5 and they'll be my little mini-witchers [editline]13th June 2013[/editline] I WANT A DIREWOLF COMPANION

This is kinda cool and all, but fairly gimmicky. Especially for a third person fighting game, the camera will rarely get close enough for you to really notice that kind of stuff. I'd rather have developers invest time in things that actually matter, like writing and adding content. With the current state of visuals, the way I judge this from a modellers perspective the amount of detail we can put in games will become more and more minor and we will reach the point where the final effect will no longer justify the time and work invested.

Show off tech for a new game to attract buyers interested in graphics and tech porn, and also attract people to buy new PC hardware because they feel inadequate. Remember Crysis 1? However, I do like me some graphix tech porn.
The issue I have with it is that it looks like it just came home from a heads and shoulders beauty therapy
I guess the next step is getting the hair to look greasy, dirty, matted and clingy so a pack of wolves which have been running around in the wild for years don't look cleaner than most of the people playing the game.

The animation is way too slow to begin with.
Has anyone started remaking the Witrcher 1 in Witcher 2's engine yet?
RIP my computer
Then don't use it. I'll likely not use it either because I prefer the first one. If they made something in between I'd like it.

No this isn't gimmicky, TressFX isn't gimmicky, PhysX isn't gimmicky. When this stuff is on a pelt armour, it will look amazing. Graphics are extremely important regardless of what people like to say, because they help you get immersed (which is one of the most important things). This is no more gimmicky than supersampling/downsampling, ambient occlusion or high fidelity/detail models.
Man those wolves use a real nice conditioner. There are girls out there wishing their hair had that much shine and bounce, damn.
Ummm it's supposed to showcase the technology, which is pretty impressive, as opposed to an ultra-realistic doggy model, which CoD has already provided.
Well look no further.
That's not fair, the people behind both Conker's games were technical wizards. They pulled off shit so ahead of their time.
They were definitely wizards with the N64 and Xbox hardware, but c'mon, it's been 12 years. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason that we can't use even primitive fur effects or faked fur effects like we see on Conker there (which appears to be some really well placed textures with an alpha channel).
Well look no further.
compare this to skyrim fuck me it's beaut
I'm going to need to get myself a new computer.
Wow, Nvidia really is squeezing AMD out of all of this. I don't want to see a monopoly market on GPU's as well as CPU's.. ...Here's to hoping AMD comes up with some cool shit and quickly.
It's a good time to be a PC gamer, and this makes me happy. Love The Witcher series, and CDProjekt.
