No actual news source yet, sorry. Pre-Register Here https://fiber.google.com/about/ [editline]1[/editline] My Mistake, They're offering a fiber optic and a free internet plan.
How the hell can that be free? 500mbps costs €85/m in The Netherlands. (KPN)
How the hell can that be free? 500mbps costs €85/m in The Netherlands. (KPN)
It's not, there is a second option to get 5 mbps for free
It's not, there is a second option to get 5 mbps for free
It also has a $300 construction fee
WELP, if Google has their way, and this succeeds, the US will have the fast internet in the world. I would totally do the $120 a month because I'm paying the same thing through Century Link and I give shit-all, 21mbps and minimal channels :( I can't BELIEVE what they give with that package, it's fucking amazing!
is this KC only?
It also has a $300 construction fee
For a guaranteed minimum of 7 years. That's $3.50/mo which is damn cheap.

I was going to pre-reigister, but then I realize it was Kansas City only.
is this KC only?
Yeah and mainly north of the river.
For a guaranteed minimum of 7 years. That's $3.50/mo which is damn cheap.
I can't tell you how much I love that option. Most (all who am I kidding) internet and tv companies won't go into the area if they haven't already moved into it themselves. I can't wait for this to head to other states, even if it takes awhile. And yeah it's KC right now, it sort of makes sense, pick an area that's most open to development.
http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1200792
dammit i forgot to check again
Yeah and mainly north of the river.
How is it that not a single carrier of Fiber can come to my city. God damnit.
I hope this is everywhere in a few years time.
Thanks but no thanks I'm happy with my current provider. Cheaper and they respect my privacy
