Kiev, Ukraine (CNN) -- A perilous face-off intensified Saturday when Russia state news complained that Ukraine had mobilized 15,000 troops in the suburbs of Slavyansk in eastern Ukraine "in order to wipe out the city and its residents." Quoting a Russian Defense Ministry source, RIA Novosti said satellite photos showed the force forming around the city that has become a friction point between the Ukraine military and pro-Russian militants. The Defense Ministry source said the number of Ukraine troops put the pro-Russian militants at a disadvantage because the latter are "armed only with small amount of pistols and shotguns." Many eastern Ukraine residents have Russian roots and sympathize with Moscow. The source said the photos showed about 160 tanks, 230 infantry combat vehicles and armored personnel carriers, mine throwers and multiple-launch rocket systems. Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly criticized Kiev's use of force against Ukrainian civilians.
http://www.cnn.com/2014/04/26/world/europe/ukraine-crisis/
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly criticized Kiev's use of force against Ukrainian civilians.
Well for one they're not and two that's an unbelievably hypocritical thing to be coming from Putin's mouth.
Hypocrites
Countries usually do build up their militaries when you take their land and park troops on their borders. Eat shit, Putin.
Nyet?
Oh, Putin. :words:
Russia is trying to legitimize its bullshit in the region. It's like, We kinda just annexed part of your country with a rigged election, and we're doing the same with another part of your country, please don't fight back, or we'll call war crimes and go in and take over. That's what is going to happen, or at least so far what it looks like.
Do it, Ukraine.
Do it, Ukraine.

Do it. Then Facepunch users in Ukraine and show some good footage of rebel exterminating.
Your posts related to the Ukraine crisis are starting to scare me. [editline]27th April 2014[/editline]
Do it, Russia.
Ok, what the Christ.
Your posts related to the Ukraine crisis are starting to scare me. [editline]27th April 2014[/editline] Ok, what the Christ.
It's like anticipating a big fight at school. Can't wait to see it.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly criticized Kiev's use of force against Ukrainian civilians.
After he supported it during the riots. GJ, POO-tin
in order to wipe out the city and its residents
Escalate that rhetoric like it's 1939!
Russia needs to stay away from Ukraine.
[Something everyone knows and agrees with]
10/10 Would build up troops again
It's like anticipating a big fight at school. Can't wait to see it.
do you enjoy death and destruction or something
do you enjoy death and destruction or something
The sound of senile and abhorrent screams from agonizing pain, loss and suffering make me sleep like a mutilated and disfigured baby cooked alive in a microwave.
It's like anticipating a big fight at school. Can't wait to see it.
Except where thousands of people will die, including innocent civilians. You're pretty much an A grade asshole, you probably live a sheltered life and will never have to face these problems yourself, and have no grasp on reality.
Russia needs to stay away from Ukraine.
B-but Russia loves oil and gas just as much as America, why are THEY not allowed to annex a country for a couple years and move on like nothing happened?
B-but Russia loves oil and gas just as much as America, why are THEY not allowed to annex a country for a couple years and move on like nothing happened?
I realize the attempt at a joke, but I don't think you understand the term annex. It means to literally absorb into your own country. Besides, Putin isn't intervening on a tyrannical dictator who punished people by shoving electric rods up their ass. Ukraine also hasn't gassed hundreds of thousands of a specific ethnic group within the past decade, or made consistent threats and been a general shit head. It isn't as much about oil as it is attempting to restore soviet era borders, much like the Georgia conflict back in 08.
and ukraine complains of large russian troop buildup in everywhere around them so... ya this is getting more and more like hitler/poland every day...
I don't think so. There are many other things that are parallels with other stuff that happened, but this isn't one afaik.
Well for one they're not and two that's an unbelievably hypocritical thing to be coming from Putin's mouth.
Hypocrisy doesn't matter. It's nothing more than a justification to say, 'Oh, the government's getting tyrannical, we have the right to step in and take over if they attack their citizens.' The more violent parts of the pro-Russian movement in Ukraine, and their suppression when they take hostages and try to kill people, is literally nothing more than an excuse to justify seizing the entire nation with force once Putin and his military decide to stop horsing around with intimidation alone. I mean, this is captain obvious, but still.
Well for one they're not and two that's an unbelievably hypocritical thing to be coming from Putin's mouth.
Wasn't it just earlier this week that Putin was claiming Ukraine was guilty of crimes against humanity or some bullshit because Ukrainian forces engaged the armed separatists who took over government and police buildings in Ukraine? Let's see what we call a bunch of people with weapons, taking over government buildings, local infrastructure and towns through use of force and fear? Um...terrorists? There are Muslims in Russia? If a bunch of Muslims got together and took over some Russian government buildings what do you think Putin would do? Engage them in some diplomatic pussyfoot? Under Putin's logic, he should also have no problem if Saudia Arabia or some other Middle Eastern countries positioned a large amount of military forces outside of Russia because they were concerned with the well-being of their "citizens." Then Putin would also have no problem if those military forces just went ahead and took over Russia you know...because there are Muslims there. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for Putin to recognize "irony" and "hypocrisy."

Russia has it's own reasons, mainly to try and keep something as a buffer state between itself and the west (same with Georgia, you know, them wanting to join NATO and all) Russia's concerns are completely legitimate, even though her methods are a bit... drastic. Russia is a shithole of a country, it's not about fighting the west with guns or blazing nukes anymore, it's more about the economy, and i would say that Ukraine aspiring to join the EU is a direct threat to their economical interests. Also, Saudi Arabia doesn't even come close to bordering Russia, the closest country would be (my geography is a bit off) Turkmenistan or Kazakhstan. And Kazakhstan is Russia's partner. I've been to Ukraine, and only a small fraction of the people i asked said they wanted to join the EU (i've been in Kiev, mind you) so who's bullshiting now with CNN blazing "Ukraine is protesting for EU" shit? Both of you
