which is better - General - Facepunch Forum

i have 2 differnt but similar pics that ive made on photoshop i made one for my background and one for my facebook fanpage background [IMG]http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs144.ash2/40517_1465274725789_1651163519_1146313_5738867_n.jpg[/IMG] fan page profile pic [IMG]http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs263.snc4/39504_147513868598671_129490497067675_451447_7868727_n.jpg[/IMG] give me some feedback cause i am new to photoshop. im looking into some other styles like ice, water, electric, ect. some friends have told me psdtuts is good for tutorials. if u have some other good websites for tutorials id like to hear them

If I had to choose,I would pick the second one. The letters being on fire look tacky and the fire unrealistic, I just googled it and found [url=http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/text-effects-tutorials/dramatic-text-on-fire-effect-in-photoshop/]this[/url] I also found some other text effects [url=http://www.photoshoproadmap.com/Photoshop-blog/2007/07/22/the-best-80-photoshop-text-effects-on-the-web/]here[/url]. Though, some of these also look tacky and some of the links are also broken. What made you decide to have a fire effect on "krouton3"- the name just makes me think of these: [img]http://berlinswhimsy.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c00f553ef011570b5d0c8970b-450wi[/img] They don't really radiate "smouldering fire" to me... [editline]12:01PM[/editline] Also, I would stay away from pointless slashes in the background (in your first image): they're really pointless and draw attention away from the text.

on the game runescape my first 99 skill was firemaking. krouton is my nickname irl the 3 stands for dale eirnharts number from nascar edit: the slashes are there because i didnt put the number 3 in that one

this was my first photoshop tutorial too. It's good for learning but really, don't use it for your profile stuff. Everyone who followed PS tutorials probably encountered this tutorial somewhere along the road so it might give off a newby appearance.

thanks for the feed back and i will be folloing tuturials to better myself but i was asking if the slashes were better or if putting the 3 at the end was better. im gonna try an ice, electric, water, ect type effects to. but i had to start somewhere. and keep giving feedback i appreciate it.

Try using a different background colour, the black on back doesn't work very well.
