Laid off most of the team for focusing on originality?
What...

No wonder there are so many modern warfare-esque games. People get laid off if they try to do something different.
What. What.
EA, stop thinking with your deadline-ridden wallet. I hope the concept finds a new home, as a game or otherwise.

1UP has a five-page feature on the story behind Project LMNO's cancellation.

Hopefully it gets picked up by a different studio. One that actually respects creativity.

I like how I linked to the very 1up article that RPS mentions in the first sentence of the newspost. Whoops. v:v:v I'd rate myself bad reading, but that rating is gone.
Man EA whats wrong with pushing the boundaries ?

because profits are not guaranteed beyond those boundaries.
basically one developer/publisher has to grow a pair and take a chance on something and if it proves succsesful EVERYONE else will make the jump. Blame CoD4 for the current mess of modern shooters we're in, but of course if not for that game we would be still stuck in WWII land. The games that start the trend are great games because of their original concepts and/or stand out features, but ironically the same things that made them original and refreshing are the same things that after the concept runs rampant for a few years and everyone and their mom has made a game it get's dull.
Publishers chase success, which isn't a problem on a base level because let's face it, they're running a business but it just gets fucking tiring after awhile seeing one developer do something great and original and then everyone playing copy cat with ever decreasing quality.
In short Publishers are holding us back because all they care about is money.

Be thankful that motion control and the music game fads are on their last legs.
