Seeing as Microsoft has not publicly announced this release, we are still working to determine the exact update but it looks like it is KB3033055 that enables the feature. As you can see from the image in this post, the Start menu looks similar to that of Windows 10 with the inclusion of tiles but the left side of the menu looks closer to that of Windows 7. Microsoft said that they would bring a Start menu to the OS during the month of September and this update delivers on that promise.
Oh, thank Christ. I was burned hard on a Surface 2 but it looks like they may actually be trying to salvage the mess that it is. Stability and bugfixes next, please?
I love reading comments on windows updates [t]http://sharex.moe/i/2015/09/15-09-16_12-19-08.png[/t]
Honestly I wish MS would just unlock it and let us do what we want in it, there's really no point in using the app store and its shitty apps
I guess it's nice of Microsoft to push out an update, but who honestly wanted this? Windows 8.1 was a better experience on touch than Windows 10 exactly because of the start screen (among other things).

From what I've seen, its not too hard to recompile for arm. I see why they did it though. Desktop apps don't help ms push their windows store stuff. Then again, killing the entire platform doesn't help either.
There are jailbreaks.
Only for windows 8.0 though - and if you downgrade then every microsoft app refuses to let you use them until you update.
