• Tesla Motors: All Our Patent Are Belong To You

In an open source inspired movement, our friend Elon Musk posted a message in Tesla's website saying Tesla patents are now free for anyone who wants to use them. http://www.teslamotors.com/blog/all-our-patent-are-belong-you That guy is awesome and his work and attitude inspiring.
That is one of the nicest things of any stripe I've ever heard to do with patents lately.
Tesla are such bro's, too bad so many try to fuck them over
Good, now where can I find a schematic of a tesla motor?
Let's commemorate this occasion with one of the most dated memes in existence.
This guy is not Tony Stark, he is better than Tony Stark
Hopefully this becomes a trend in other tech industries. (It won't) [editline]12th June 2014[/editline]
Good, now where can I find a schematic of a tesla motor?
In here somewhere
Volvo did this with the three-point seat belt and it caused a revolution in car safety. Imagine if this was done more often.
Good for the industry, could be bad for Tesla though
Good for the industry, could be bad for Tesla though
I don't think it's bad for Tesla, GM & Ford aren't going to retool/build factories to make Tesla knockoffs overnight.
I don't think it's bad for Tesla, GM & Ford aren't going to retool/build factories to make Tesla knockoffs overnight.
they should though good electric cars from more than one brand would be so great for the automobile industry
I love this any excuses by the auto industry not to adopt the already well developed concepts employed by tesla to create serious competition and move away from the stagnant and generally shitty current technology standards will be blatant oil industry brown-nosing and I can't wait to hear all of it
Fucking incredible, Musk is one of the greatest investors.

Mercedes USA exec said earlier this year they won't let Tesla be alone in the premium electric sedan market forever. I'm expecting all the premium luxury brands, Merc, BMW, Audi, etc will have electric luxury sedans soon.
I don't think it's bad for Tesla, GM & Ford aren't going to retool/build factories to make Tesla knockoffs overnight.
*could* be bad. I'm all for a cheaper Tesla, but I dont want to see the company get killed off because of their competitors doing it cheaper.

That's the easiest things to relate to for the general populace, but you could also get all "headlight fluid" about how mechanics won't be able to help you or would be put out of jobs, but I don't expect too much actual technobabble

That remains to be seen.”
http://www.forbes.com/sites/hannahelliott/2014/04/16/mercedes-head-tesla-has-no-network-limited-potential/?partner=yahootix [editline]12th June 2014[/editline]
what I'm saying is excuses will most likely boil down to why electric cars are bad/not profitable/hard to develop in the current environment where there's already an existing standard both in how cars perform and how populous gas stations are compared to charger stations. I'm guessing this patent move is Teslas latest effort to Rev up competition. The business model of Tesla Motors is to jump start EV technology. Elon has always supported others getting in the game and goes as far as to sell tech to others.
Elon Musk is trying to go down in history as someone who created the second printing press. He could care less about the monetary gain, the man is set for life.
fucking incredible
Almost a modern Daniel faraday. Throwing off the line light for the good of us all.
I hope that even with the push against it, it grows unfathomably big.
Nikola Tesla had the idea of free electricity transmission, but his idea had never really happened. Now, we have Tesla Motors allowing everyone to use their patents at no cost. Nikola Tesla would be proud.

Elon Musk is one of few remaining good rich people. Can we just vote him into government as supreme overlord of the United States? He wouldn't take anyone's shit, we'd have electric cars AND space craft! What could go wrong?
Continuum shows what goes wrong when you have a corporate congress
In a way, we already do. Will one guy that actually cares about the future really hurt us more than a few dozen that only care about power and profit?
