Please don't come to Britain – it rains and the jobs are scarce and low-paid. Ministers are considering launching a negative advertising campaign in Bulgaria and Romania to persuade potential immigrants to stay away from the UK.
The plan, which would focus on the downsides of British life, is one of a range of potential measures to stem immigration to Britain next year when curbs imposed on both country's citizens living and working in the UK will expire.
A report over the weekend quoted one minister saying that such a negative advert would "correct the impression that the streets here are paved with gold".
This is so hilariously pathetic, hahaha.
Alright, I'll stay away then.
Or, I could come over the ocean and help bring my ideals and such into your country. Really, it works either way.
As an expat, I have to agree with this. I honestly can't see why people wouldn't want to emmigrate somewhere sunny/laid back at least. The UK is cold and wet. There is a lower standard of living now in the most built up parts while everyone is miserable and crime is rife.
dont have to tell me twice
They're being serious guys, do you know how horrible having free healthcare and so-and-so weather feels?
am i the only one who actually enjoys the rain? it's not as bad as people make it out to be
I'm off to Reykjavik!
Oh wow.
Fuck every country. The Moon is where it's at.
The entire north side of the country is a dump, the wages are hilarious.
That's just fucking outrageous.
I've been to britain. Honestly... They're right. It kinda does suck a little. There's a lot of great countries in the EU they can come be dirty gypsies in, why would they supposedly all go to the UK?
GLORIOUS SUMMER RAINS!
honestly, why wouldn't you want that?

I've lived in two sunny and laid back countries and I'd seriously love to live in a place like the UK. I guess humans are very nonconformist.
dont come to Ireland either, we're closed.
Please don't, if we take another immigrant then we will sink for sure.
we should air commercials like these in mexico.
"the usa: really guys it's not that great anymore..."
California represent
Only parts of the UK suck. Like Portsmouth. Portsmouth sucks. I should know, I live here.

"the usa: really guys it's not that great anymore..."
Even our shittiness towards immigrants isn't much compared to what happens down there.
Oh come on, just look at the work available, down south you can get paid a decent wage, the north east has absolutely nothing.
Have I misinterpreted the word dump? I assumed he meant a 'dump' like it was ugly or something, which it most certainly is not.
That's just fucking outrageous.
But Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Glasgow are all in the north. :v:

Fair point, but they're only the cities. Go out into the rural areas and it's literally stunning.

There's some pretty awful places up here, you can't deny it.

There are also some fucking awful places in London as well.
Am I the only Englishman here who feels privileged having been born in England? :v:

There are some pretty awful places down south, and everywhere else in the world. People are people.

I wouldn't say the North is massively worse off for jobs. Now, Northern Ireland on the other hand...
