People who talk in correct capitalization and punctuation in IM grind my gears

Whenever I talk with my friends on Steam or when i'm playing on some random game in Garry's mod, most of them don't capitalize their first letters and don't end their sentences in a period. It creates a calm casual feeling. But whenever people talk with correct capitalization and punctuation, it bothers me if the subject is not serious. There is a huge difference in tone between:
"yeah i downloaded the stuff from garry's mod already"
and
"Yeah, I downloaded the stuff from Garry's mod already."
In a forum, it's different because you should take time to make your posts, it's not as sudden and instant as IM. When somebody takes the time to correct capitalize and punctuate in something as immediate as IM, I think they're being a bit too serious.

Sorry for liking proper grammar and punctuation.
I'll try to look more like an idiot in the future.
i really don't see how something as simple as that can bother you
I like to speak properly. I am sorry this offends you.
also this is totally worth a thread
I use correct capitalization and punctuation out of habit. Plus, I don't want to sound stupid and I don't want to start using non-capitalization and punctuation when writing a paper or something formal.
Ugh.... Blogpunch...
