Alright, this has been bugging me for a while now, the current History Channel. I used to love watching the History Channel. When it was ACTUAL history. I am talking about the shows that talked about the World Wars, medieval era, Industrial Revolution, the growth of countries, etc. etc. I could actually learn and be entertained at the same time! Now it is full of shows like Pawn Stars, which is interesting, to a point, and does have some historic things in it, but its on all the fucking time, Top Shot, which is just a reality show where they shoot guns and vote to kick people out of the show or what not; similar to Survivor, but without surviving. Ice Road Truckers, still not really "history", just some people driving around on the same path through the ice as the last season. Oh, and American Pickers. That show isn't history either. They just buy old junk to sell to someone who collects it. I am sure some of you like these shows. That's fine. I like some of them too! The thing is... they are always on. For the past week, whenever I check my guide for anything on the History Channel, I am presented with one of the above shows that are all reruns. Tomorrow there is Egypt: Engineering and Empire on. That is nice. But that is the only good thing on tomorrow, and its on twice, the same exact program on twice. This is what is annoying me. If its not one of the non-history shows, it is a rerun of something I have seen before, or if I am really lucky, something I have never seen before, but keeps repeating all day, causing the same effect as all these old shows. Anyone else share my same views on this?

Oh, sorry for wall of text.
I totally agree. The History Channel has really gone downhill the past few years. And what's worst, the history that's actually on there is so dumbed down that sometimes it isn't even worth watching.
I'm glad I am not the only one with these views.
There's always something interesting on Oasis. I once stayed up until 5 watching a show about monkey warfare. Crafty bastards.
America: The Story of Us had so much potential but was completely dumbed down for sixth grade History classes.
Just finished watching a show on Airports. It was interesting, but it would've probably been better suited to the Discovery Channel.
I think the only good shows on there now are Pawn Stars and Modern Marvels.

Yeah I like both of those, but the only time I see Modern Marvels is when its a rerun, and Pawn Stars is on all the time.
It's like they are trying to compete with the Military Channel (Formerly Discovery Wings, which I miss dearly), and TLC.
History International isn't as bad as The History Channel, but it could still do better.
I go to the Military Channel anymore for real history shows.

I like that the Military Channel actually covers WWI. History Channel did WWII so much at one point it may as well have been the Hitler Channel.

There's ALWAYS something good on the Military channel, but I suppose that depends on personal taste.
History Television, Canada's History Channel is in the same shitty state, but sometimes there's something that's not that bad like Greatest Tank Battles.
Isn't Military Channel only in America? How American-centric is it?
Discovery Channel's where it's at. :colbert:

We get it here in Canada. Some of the shows center around the States, but it's usually internationally war based. In fact, a good bunch is focused on ancient warfare.

Oasis leaves DC in the dust good sir.

Well, not all of us can afford or are in a location to get premium satellite television.
There is History Channel International, which is MUCH better than normal History Channel.
anyone remember when the history channel used to play the same documentaries in the afternoon that they did in the morning?
watched em anyway. good times.
Well if you want world war stuff, just thumb down to the military channel, its more or less "World war II: the channel"
The airport thing was pretty neat.
American History Channel must be shit. The stuff we see on the Canadian history channel is awesome. Cities of the underworld, Outlaw Bikers, Engeneering an empire, Greatest Tank Battles, Dogfights, etc.
These days they just make the most stupid programming imaginable. They seriously aired this:

The worst part is the pseudo-historical "documentaries" like Ancient Aliens. That show is so unbearably stupid.
don't forgot Nostradamus and 2012 conspiracies.

oh god I remember watching one of those things. They made such retarded connections to things that had very little relevance to eachother
I like the one show, not sure if its Military channel but Rome Rise and Fall of an Empire.
America: The Story of Us was inaccurate beyond belief.
What is Oasis and is it offered with DirecTv?
And the Alien Abduction shows. Ugh.
I also hate Animal Planet. It went from genuinely interesting shows about animals and what not to heart breaking animal cops. Fucking abused puppies 24/7.
I haven't watched it in a year or so so that could of changed.
I stopped watching History channel after they started doing the Hitler thing.
