A Russian official revealed that “Iraq negotiates over conducting a second armament deal with Russia that includes warplanes, armored vehicle and tanks.” “These negotiations prove that Iraq intends to buy Russian weapons despite the American pressure because Iraqi military officers are accustomed to use Russian weapons,” he added. Those are some sexy Mi-28s
wait till they are used secretly on behalf of al kahida. the security forces are notoriously corrupt and about half are sympathetic to terrorist causes (though tbh that depends on what you class as terrorism)
I thought it said "Iran" again.
They'd better get some Hinds. Those things are cool
I'm glad to see Iraq is recovering, US got snubbed :v:
I'm glad to see Iraq is recovering, US got snubbed :v:
The situation is kind of funny, insane amounts of money spent on Iraq and Afghanistan, and Afghanistan is dependent on Iranian trade. Then you have Iraq's government recently tilting towards Eastern political interests in the grand scheme of things, but still rather neutral.
Aren't those p. obsolete?
The mi-28 is the dedicated attack copter derivative, old yes, but not obsolete. You know what is also old, but still commonly used? The Apache. Helicopters have long service lives.
He means hinds. And, no. Hinds are not obsolete.
I know, the mi-28, what they are buying, is a derivative of the hind. It removes the troop carrying ability replacing it with more weapon mounts it seems.
I'd assume after using them in Afghanistan and other wars for so long the Russians have developed a good use for a flying gunship cross armoured bus. Then they scraped that idea entirely and redesigned the entire helicopter into a dedicated attack helicopter. Hell they even said "Guys, you know what would be genius? Putting a troop carrier in this thing!"
At least Russia isn't Al-Queda.
Those are some sexy Mi-28s
not so sexy when they are firing rockets and shit at you.
not so sexy when they are firing rockets and shit at you.
[t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9d/LAAD_stinger.jpg[/t] NONSENSE!
Well atleast the negotiation isn't Al-Queda

We've been using the Abrams for 30 years.

Speaking about the spending I find this a good deal for the situation in Iraq. They still have to deal with insurgents and probably want higher quality AK-type weapons because of the ease and costs of use.Obviously, the vehicles and aircraft will be good deals.

The T90 is an updated T72.

Just for the record, the airframe itself might be prototyped in the late eighties it wasn't actually finished until the 90's, the Mi-28 is actually newer than the Apache.
The Russian Army received the first Mi-28 prototypes for testing in 2004.[1] It received the first serial production Mi-28N in 2006,[6][7] which then joined two prototype helicopters for army trials. The aircraft entered service in 2006.[12]
Good for them then And we still sell rifles to Bangladesh
This is a good thing considering the fact the biggest threat to them currently is Iran.
This is a good thing considering the fact the biggest threat to them currently is Iran.
Iran is their friend.
Iran is their friend.
In what way? Iran and Iraq still don't like each other, and Iraq would prefer to maintain her independence. Plus the religious issue, and plus Saudi Arabia/Kuwait/Jordan want to keep Iraq in check.

Seriously though your post is dead wrong. [editline]16th February 2013[/editline] Russians, Iraqi's see eye to eye on FP issues and so do Iran-Russia/Iran-Iraq. They're really natural partners.
Well I guess you're right but you can knock off how condescending you sound.
really just a week ago you were flaming me for being informed on your alt which was subsequently banned. I thought I was being nice.

Well both things there are seemingly true. If they came off as expressing superiority over you then sorry, but that wasn't the point and it makes no sense. End of story.
