Crumbs has finally crumbled. The retailer that sold massive cupcakes such as Cookie Dough and Girl Scouts Thin Mints said Tuesday that it is shuttering all its stores and filing for Chapter 7 liquidation, finally succumbing to a steep drop in sales. The New York City-based company said all employees were notified of the closures Monday. A representative for Crumbs could not immediately say how many workers were affected or how many stores it had remaining on its last day. A press release from its website in March listed 65 locations in 12 states and Washington, D.C. The website had not been updated with notification of the closures late Monday. The closures will be bad news for the 165 full-time employees and about 655 part-time hourly employees it listed at the end of last year, but good news for our waistlines.
That's the way the cookie crumbles.
This kind of happen when you charge people $4.50 for a cupcake (their signature 6 pack costs $27), especially in today's economy. People simply can't afford jacked-up food anymore. I know they are fancy and beautifully packaged compare to the ones you made in Home Economic. But it is not difficult. There are loads of tutorials online teaching you how to make this stuff. This is why I always tell people to learn to make their favourite food. I taught myself how to make pizza a year ago and I haven't ordered a pizza since.
Wait I got a better one.
You can't eat your cake, and have it too.
Then let them eat cake.
