really nice snare sound bro, you have a lot of stamina too videos like these always give me inspirations for wanting to do my own covers. I'm thinking about doing The Dance of Eternity by Dream Theater

I might hook up my double bass pedal to practice that, since every time I try to cover it, I get all the time signatures right, and then the double bass comes in and I'm like "come on mike"

I'd imagine it would be tough as a drummer to not get a heart attack mid play. dont know how portnoy does it! but as a bass player, the time signature changes dont bother me as much as the sheer barrage of notes that keep coming at me. All i really need to do for that song is get the bass solo down and play it tight

If I did, I would be all over it. :v: I get where you're coming from! If you're interested, here's the bass tab for it: http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/d/dream_theater/the_dance_of_eternity_ver2_btab.htm

The Mars Volta is that one insane band that reminds me I'll never be good at guitar
The Mars Volta is that one insane band that reminds me I'll never be good at guitar
that's why im glad the guitar work in my favorite genre of music is just power chords and simple arpeggios set your bar low and you'll always be happy :v:
The Mars Volta is that one insane band that reminds me I'll never be good at guitar
There's so many pedals and effects he uses, it's crazy. The solo work he does is absolutely insane.
You got great form and technique. Great smooth wrist movement. I wish my back was as straight and rigid while playing as yours though, I am always hunched over and swinging my arms and shoulders into it.

I've always been self-conscious about my posture when I'm drumming, because it's terrible for your body in the long run if you're even a little hunched over. Just focus on keeping your back straight first, and then start drumming, and see what changes!
