• Anyone got a spare US mobile number I could use for Craigslist?

Hi, long story short I start a years internship in Chicago in 11 days. I arrive on the 15th and I'm staying at a pre-paid hotel for 5 days and after that I've got to find somewhere to live. I thought I'd make it easier on myself(and less stressful) by doing some of the leg work before I get there. I've been using Craigslist to look for apartments, rooms, houses etc and so far it's proven to be the best way to find somewhere to live. I've rang a few people and they all want payment before I get there.. which isn't the safest method.. sending a large some of money to someone I've never met over the internet... just doesn't sound good. I've made a Craigslist post for the Chicago area but I didn't know you have to be in the US to post.. You need to verify yourself with a mobile phone. Just wondering if anyone had a spare mobile phone that they had lying around that they could possibly give me the number to, and then let me know the verification code that Craigslist send? Or possibly a way around it? I'll reimburse you what every it costs (if anything) Thanks!
Couldn't you possibly use Google numbers?
Couldn't you possibly use Google numbers?
I did think about that but
Thanks for visiting Google Voice. We're not yet open for users outside the US, but are planning to expand our service to additional countries in the future.
:(
What about skype?
If its a text I could do it possibly.
You can buy a prepaid or no contract phone easily they are like 10bucks [editline]4th September 2011[/editline] Also isn't the verification code an email or txt?

Cheers for the replies but Miekk helped me out!
I've been using Craigslist to look for apartments, rooms, houses etc
Bad idea, IMO. There are far more trustworthy sites to use to look for these sort of things.
Are there? I thought Craigslist was the shit. Do you mind telling me what other ones there are?
It might sound tacky, but Apartments.com is about as simple as it gets.
