So Ive had this ingrown toenail for about a year now, and I'm finally getting it taken care of. Regarding recovery of my toe, anything that i should know? Should i shower with it inside the shower? Is it okay to have sex while recovering? How painful is recovery?

It's pretty easy, I've gone through it 3 times. It doesn't hurt during recovery unless you step on it. It may throb a little, but it's not painful. Yes it's ok to shower with it, but just be careful. I leave the bandage on so it's easier to take off after the shower and to put on a new one.

I've gone a couple of times. It's not a big deal, they just inject you with some anesthesia and cut the edge of the nail out. Takes about 15 minutes (I think; I never actually looked at a clock or anything) and recovery isn't really a problem. Your nail will be a bit misshapen for a while, and it feels weird for a bit once the anesthetic wears off, but other than that you just need to soak your feet and change the bandage every night for a week or so.

I've had the surgery before.
All they do is give you some anesthesia whether by spray or by needle, then they simply cut out the nail, bandage it, and then you recover.
The surgery itself may hurt somewhat, with the level of pain depending on how far ingrown your nail is, but it's a hell of a lot better than dealing with the pain of the ingrown toenai itself.
I've had several ingrown toenails, you'll be fine. Unless you're planning on something really kinky.

They took these huge fuckin syringes and for 20 minutes they were shooting my toes full of anesthetic, it made my toes swell to the size of baseballs /exaggeration, then after that I didn't feel a thing, and it was actually pretty cool to watch. So not to scare you, but it does hurt pretty bad when they're putting the gel into your toes.
Since it's only one side of your toe, the anesthetic will only take about a minute to put in, since if you have ingrown toenails on both sides of both toes (like I had) they have to put anesthetic on both sides of each toe. It's not that bad. I was there for a half an hour, and then they released me.
The shitty part was afterward, I had to soak my toes twice a day in saline solution for about 2 weeks, wear huge bandages, but that was just a minor inconvenience. Also I don't believe they gave me any painkillers, and I didn't need any, and I doubt you will.
