My girlfriend wasn't allowed to join a sorority because of me. - General

There's a lot of background information, but the gist of it is that we're in a long distance relationship, and last summer she told me she didn't really want to join one when she got into college. Problem is, she did want to. So she brought it up to her parents, and they basically said "well, you told him you didn't want to do it, and that's what you told us, and so we don't think you've thought this through enough. plus it's really expensive and stuff so yeah." So then I find out from her that she was really only telling me that to make me happy but she'd always intended to join one, but she didn't tell her parents that. So now it seems that [I]I'm/I] to blame for this, and she's pissed at me and her parents and everyone, and I'm worried about it. She's not the type that forgets about these things, and I don't want her to be mad at me. :saddowns: But on the other hand, I'm really glad she's NOT joining one, but I can't tell her that, for obvious reasons.

Don't wanna seem like a dick, but why did you make a thread about this? If you were asking us for advice or something it would be understandable, but you're just telling us this like we're your diary. I'm going to pretend you did ask us a question and say that you should just forget about it.

Sorority clubs are useless, pointless and needlessly expensive. They offer you nothing but a financial drain. Good thing she's not.

Dear Diary Writer, This morning I woke up after having slept in a strange position and continued to go on to eat my breakfast. I guess the point of this was just to ask you guys if this was my fault or not. I know it isn't, but part of me still thinks it is. The reason she told me she wouldn't join one is because I was really worried about her being in one. Not because I don't trust her, but just because I'm insecure and it's a common fear. She wanted me to not worry, so she lied and said she didn't want to join one.
