REDMOND, WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Bill Gates’s first day at work in the newly created role of technology adviser got off to a rocky start yesterday as the Microsoft founder struggled for hours to install the Windows 8.1 upgrade.
The installation hit a snag early on, sources said, when Mr. Gates repeatedly received an error message informing him that his PC ran into a problem that it could not handle and needed to restart.
Even Bill Gates thinks Windows 7 is better.
Which is a shame because Windows 8.1 is actually pretty good.
For what its worth, I'm typing this on a Macbook Pro running Windows 8.1.
After failing to install the upgrade by lunchtime, Mr. Gates summoned the new Microsoft C.E.O. Satya Nadella, who attempted to help him with the installation, but with no success.
While the two men worked behind closed doors, one source described the situation as “tense.”
“Bill is usually a pretty calm guy, so it was weird to hear some of that language coming out of his mouth,” the source said.
:v:
He got so frustrated trying to install it he sent for his boss, and both of them got nowhere in the process :v:

It's weird because most, myself included, didn't run into any problems.

This is too perfect.

Nah, he just had a bizarre issue with installing it. In an AMA a while back he said he preferred 8 to 7.

I imagine a lot of "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO TO MY OS WHILE I WAS GONE, JESUS FUCKING CHRIST"

How weird not everybody gets a fatal error?
Yikes.
I had the same issue with 8.1 when I installed it. Kept getting BSOD's every 20 minutes and went back to 7. Not had a problem since.
Shame as with ClassicShell it's a really nice OS. Oh well.

I've had nothing but problems when using Windows 8/8.1, such as my wireless connections randomly dropping out and the fact that chrome doesn't even work at all.
Ended up downgrading to Windows 7. only reason I had windows 8 in the first place is because it was already on the laptop when I bought it.
I had expected this to be a The Onion article.
Did they try Binging the problem? :v:

It's the Borowitz Report.
Still satire, I'm afraid.

They Googled it.
Poor Gates.
I've only had 1 issue with Win8 and that was BSOD when rebooting/turning off my computer but that was just old driver issue that was eventually fixed and now I haven't had any issues.

Supposedly, there are wireless problems in 8 because they made some changes to the way they work.
I went from 7 -> 8 -> 8.1 in on this Macbook in about 4 hours. Other than the install being painfully slow (jesus christ Windows Update) it works flawlessly. And AFAIK, I didn't install any Windows 8 specific drivers, so there's that.
