Men who have a diet heavy in fish have better sperm and more of it. Men should back away from the bacon if they want to make babies. New research from the Harvard School of Public Health shows men who eat lots of processed meats have poorer quality sperm than those who don’t. Men whose diets include fish — especially white fish like cod or halibut — had the highest level of quality sperm, according to the study, presented Monday in Boston, at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s annual meeting. Researchers analyzed more than 350 semen samples from 156 men who visited a local fertility center and answered questions about their diet. They found that eating processed red meat has a negative effect on “sperm morphology” — the size and shape of sperm’s cell structures. Having abnormal sperm can contribute to infertility.
This is unfortunate.
Correlation =/= causation.
what about processed fish
infertility? even bigger reason to eat bacon
Sacrifices must be made.
Don't give a shit, bacon all day 'erry day. Mothers family had 5 kids and father's family had 6, pretty sure bacon was eaten pretty frequently.
Bacon is overrated anyway. "Oh wow, fried and processed strips of pig meat, this must be the best and most exotic food ever known to man!" My asshole.
Bacon is overrated anyway. "Oh wow, fried and processed strips of pig meat, this must be the best and most exotic food ever known to man!"
Yes let's leave flavor and taste preference out of an assumption about subjective enjoyment
Bacon is overrated anyway. "Oh wow, fried and processed strips of pig meat, this must be the best and most exotic food ever known to man!" My asshole.
Are you quoting your asshole
Well it's not bad. You can give me bacon and I will eat it, enjoy it even, but I still see it as rather overrated junk. [editline]21st October 2013[/editline]
Are you quoting your asshole
Yes.
That's okay, I'm not getting laid anyways
Well it's not bad. [editline]21st October 2013[/editline]
That's okay, I'm not getting laid anyways
Not with that attitude!
You're talking about bacon, but ignoring actual good stuff like sausages is listed there.
Awesome, I don't want kids. My boyfriend can now expect to wake up to a bacon sandwich every morning. What a delicious plan

Poor Mr Pottsdam...
how about pork in general?
Bacon is overrated anyway. "Oh wow, fried and processed strips of pig meat, this must be the best and most exotic food ever known to man!" My asshole.
Clearly this is a woman posting. :v: (no offense, TaniaTiger)
Sounds like a win for everyone. I suppose this is why they call bacon "cured meat."
Clearly this is a woman posting. :v: (no offense, TaniaTiger)
I'm not sure how you deciphered that poster as a woman, but nothing can get me down right now because this thread reminded me of the power of pork and I'm currently eating a whole pack of streaky, smoked, sexy bacon. And it is glorious.
But I make my own Italian sausage by grinding up pork shoulders a little venison and mixing it with pork fat. Does this apply to people processing their own meats? I don't add any chemicals to it or anything, so I don't see how this would apply to me
I've got zero clue how people can eat bacon without anything, I mean, it manages to be fat and not filling at the same time
Facepunch wont have anything to worry about.
Correlation =/= causation.
Except this is a study done, not just people drawing correlations... and its done by Harvard.
normally I avoid bacon but Tim Hortens turkey bacon sandwiches is fucking bomb
Except this is a study done, not just people drawing correlations... and its done by Harvard.
it's a study that has determined that men who eat a high/er proportion of processed meat have lower sperm quality than those that don't - which is understandable. what i think chipset meant was that it hasn't been proved that eating processed meat *directly* lowers your sperm quality, which is what the title seems to imply, but in fact is showing a mere correlation between the two, which makes plenty of sense considering that a diet high in processed meats is unlikely to be a healthy one, and we all know that an unhealthy diet leads to all manner of health problems. the fact that it's "a study by harvard" means sod all if you can't actually read what's been said and just assume blind that it's the absolute truth.
bacon joke
I bet the sperm are happy in your testicles when you eat bacon, so strenuous exercise like swimming and ramming an egg hold no appeal to them. But if all you're eating is fish, they can't wait to get out of there.
Wait. So the cheesesteak, that's been fresh cut sirloin into thin slices of meat is actually better for me than bac-FUCK IT I'M DYING TO CHEESESTEAK. EXCUSE ACHIEVED.
