Yum? I went through 22 years of my life, never making this.
-snip, you got it-
or you could just Microwave it.
Just started making popcorn like this over the summer. The process is a lot more engaging than just throwing a bag in the microwave and you can make a lot more at one time.
lol 8 is medium high now?
that's way too much oil imo, this is much cheaper, better for you, and tastier than microwaved crap.
I just throw the heat on max (might not want to do this if you're using a gas range)
put enough oil down to coat the bottom of the pan and add 2/3 cup kernals in a huge pot and shake it constantly untill popping slows down drastically
Wow, I've never even thought of doing this. It looks fun.
Grandfather always used to make popcorn this way. Made it myself too, it's really delicious this way. Can't stand air popped.
That's how gramps did it, that's how dad did it, and that's how son's doing it. And it worked pretty well so far.
Seeing they only sell popcorn in kernel form here I've always made it like this
I do mine with this

I would imagine they get all soggy from the oil but I guess not. Must try sometime.
My mom used to make it like that waaay long ago.
These days, the microwaveable popcorn is so much easier to make and makes 100% less of a mess. You gotta get the time and power just right to make as many pop as possible though. And you have to avoid the shitty brands too of course.
what the hell, is this special or old or something? My family always makes popcorn like this. Microwaved and pre-made popcorn taste like shit.
I've been doing this all my life. I was expecting something unusual, really.

Except Butterkist, holy shit all that toffee

I've been turning these cranks since I was a wee lad.
Making it in the microwave in a brown paper bag works well too if you're lazy.

or get an air popper
muuuuch healthier that way
I'm gonna be honest with you all:
I've been popping my popcorn like this for a while and I see a big flaw in his plan: Too much oil. Way too much, in fact.
A small amount to BARELY coat the bottom of your pot will suffice. Along with a 1 kernel thick layer on the bottom will also do. A small amount makes more than you think and it tastes SOOOOOOO much better.
But, what you must keep in mind:

YOU WILL NEED LOTS OF BUTTER AND SALT.
It's much healthier than the bags and much more fun. There is something in our minds that makes us little children with popping stuff.
I can't believe some people haven't done this before or even thought of it. I used to make popcorn this way all the time.
I make mine delicious. Add more oil than in the video and when done, chuck in some salt, icing sugar and cinnamon sugar. Mix it around and when most of the stuff you added is sticking to the popcorn in, enjoy!

That's not say that plain popcorn isn't delicious.
What's up with caveman facepunch here, not knowing it's possible to make popcorn in a pan.
Jesus christ guys, this thread is officially up there with that stupid shit you get on facebook.
I have a little glass thing I put in the microwave. It's neat, but a pain in the ass to use.
air popped is the best popcorn
I used to do it like this, sometimes I fucked up and burnt it but i should start doing it this way, it is way better than the shit at the shops, i still have some boxes of microwave popcorn but i havent touched them because im cutting down on junk food
I used to do this a lot. It takes practice before you can do it perfectly, but it's really good this way.
