TUNIS Aug 21 (Reuters) - Libya's rebels have captured Muammar Gaddafi's son, Saif Al-Islam, the head of the rebel National Transitional Council told Al Jazeera television on Sunday.
"We have confirmed information that our guys have captured Saif Al-Islam," Mustapha Abd El Jalil said. "We have given instructions to treat him well so that he can face trial." (Reporting by Tarek Amara; Writing by Richard Valdmanis; Editing by Andrew Heavens)
then you're sinking low as ghaddafi
take him hostage until ghaddafi surrenders.
Something tells me he wouldn't care enough about his son being taken hostage to surrender.
then you're sinking low as ghaddafi
As long as they treat him well it's fine.
As long as they treat him well it's fine.
Treat him fine right up until they put him to death?
then you're sinking low as ghaddafi
Who cares, war is a brutal thing and its in the rebels best interest to disarm the enemy, stop them from building up military force again and to break their will to fight.
Having his son as hostage will definitely help break the will to fight.

Knowing the US Military and CIA it could quite possibly be the opposite.

gotta have a happy ending eh
always the sons! :(
this was already posted in the other thread, having 4 different threads about the Libya situation is out of hand.
What are the rebels doing? I thought they were going after Gaddafi, not Gadhaf
gotta have a happy ending eh
as long as the girl gets a pearl necklace in the end

There are literally dozens of ways to spell his name correctly.

All of these options are acceptable.
Mu ammar Al Qazzaffy
Mo'amar el Khadhdhaffi
Mu'ammar Gadhaffy
this is fun :v:
I really hope they don't stoop as low as Gaddafi and kill him and his sons/family out of revenge. What they need is a fair trial to ensure justice is served.

was he charged of any crimes or are we just violating international law once again so we can pretend we're the good guys?

His father did, and he supported his father's government. I don't know specifically which son we're talking about, but all the ones I've seen so far have supported their father.
If I'm in error saying he supported the regime, then by all means correct me.

Its Saif, the one that was apparently in charge of the military.

This is a battle of ideology, not a fight for survival. Lowering to his level defeats the entire purpose of the rebellion.

That's all fine and dandy but if all rebels followed that mindset the civil war would have never begun.
