Hello pretty new here and not sure if this is where I should post this but, here goes.
So I've recently decided to record my tracks but unfortunately I've tried everything (that is free) and nothing has worked.
My current amp is a Vox vt15, and I've tried to connect it to the computer through the headphones output and connecting to either line in or microphone but it only worked with 1 program (can't remember the name) which I unnisntalled because there was terrible lag which always threw my off. Do any of you know the cheapest (preferably free) way to record with this, keeping my amps sound (not looking to directly connect my guitar to the computer).
Anyone? :c
see if you can find an audio interface off craigslist or ebay or something.

Getting an actual recording interface (i.e m-audio fast track) is going to do a whole lot for your recording experience, you're probably getting lag because the way you've recorded earlier is not really how you're supposed to record a hot signal like a guitar.
I record my amp via the headphone out into an interface. Just get an interface with a 1/4 inch input and you should be good to go.
I remember doing stuff like taht when I was a kid, it sounded horrible, but it worked.
I highly recoomend you getting one of these: http://us.focusrite.com/usb-audio-interfaces/scarlett-2i2
That way you'll be able to record with pretty good sound and stuff and boost your songs to another level.
Thanks!
But damn is that expensive..
Check out the Lexicon Alpha Studio. Its a usb interface, reasonably priced and it's good enough to get you started on the right track for recording basic guitars.

How'd you rate the quality?
Build quality, sound quality etc..
Really good sound quality for the price, i used it through amplitube 3 and though my amp it was pretty dope, and i didnt get any static or lag
