The Departed (2006) One of Martin Scorsese's top films, and definitely my most favorite film of all time.
In South Boston, the state police force is waging war on Irish-American organized crime. Young undercover cop Billy Costigan is assigned to infiltrate the mob syndicate run by gangland chief Frank Costello. While Billy quickly gains Costello's confidence, Colin Sullivan, a hardened young criminal who has infiltrated the state police as an informer for the syndicate, is rising to a position of power in the Special Investigation Unit. Each man becomes deeply consumed by his double life, gathering information about the plans and counter-plans of the operations he has penetrated. But when it becomes clear to both the mob and the police that there's a mole in their midst, Billy and Colin are suddenly in danger of being caught and exposed to the enemy-and each must race to uncover the identity of the other man in time to save himself. But is either willing to turn on the friends and comrades they've made during their long stints undercover?
Leonardo DiCaprio as Trooper Billy Costigan, undercover State Trooper Matt Damon as Staff Sergeant Colin Sullivan, Costello's informant in the Special Investigations Unit Jack Nicholson as Frank Costello, sociopathic boss of the Boston Irish mob Mark Wahlberg as Staff Sergeant Sean Dignam, second in command of the undercover unit Martin Sheen as Captain Oliver Charles Queenan, commander of the undercover unit Vera Farmiga as Dr. Madolyn Madden, occupational psychiatrist and girlfriend to both Billy and Colin Ray Winstone as Arnold French, Costello's right-hand man Alec Baldwin as Captain George Ellerby, commander of the Special Investigations Unit Great film, the best I have seen. Favorite scene. Also [sp]the elevator scene where Billy dies. I admit, I jumped a bit when I first saw that. I did NOT see that one coming..[/sp]
Insulting homosexuals and firemen in the same sentence never gets old
I must admit, I had my doubts when buying this movie, and it kept going until the beginning was over. Then the level of awesomeness that was revealed for me tore every single doubt apart. This movie is great!
I began watching it one night when I was tired watched 20 minutes the 2 main characters looked the same, couldnt be bothered figuring shit out watched another movie instead
I love this movie. Especially Mark Wahlberg and Alec Baldwin. Towards the end, I did not suspect a thing [sp]The whole elevator thing.[/sp]
Tell me why without mentioning the acting or how it was directed or because other people say its good
It's in IMO, you know what that means don't ya? It means IN MY OPINION; My Favorite film. Not yours, not others just MINE. Also, why the hell should you care what films I like? If you refuse to stick that through that thick thick skull of yours, well then I am sorry to announce I cannot help but advise you to put your head into a plastic bag and bury it. Can't we settle our differences on these notes?
