Situations like that are easy to get into in London, especially visiting the first time.
I got had to dodge a motorcycle and got nearly hit by a cab beside the big Ben, also just stepping out the wrong moment, in my case the same second the lights turned green.

I love how he's just a bloke to everybody around him. Bus driver doesn't care. Beardy doesn't care. That group of people crossing don't even look at or acknowledge him but he seems to think they're coming for him and it results in an awkward pat on the back to a group of strangers who literally don't know him.

the weird motion seems to just be because the bus sounded his horn and it startled him. If you hear that and turn to see a big ol' bus I don't think you're really thinking about how fast it's going, just that it's yelling at you to get out of the way
