IMHO I'd rather have very natural, fluid animations like the one with the orange ceiling than "High detail, low quality, bland, boring, robotic"

To be honest it is more a parody of Sylvain Chomet's films than French animated films as a whole, but the most notable parts for me at least are the exaggeration of personal imperfections, generally washed-out and unappealing colors, the scene dragging on and showing everyday activity, the lack of dialog and the almost ambient background-track playing during the whole scene.
Those are kind of the main features in many of Sylvain Chomet's films as they he tends to show the sides of society that is generally not shown in films: The lives of people with boring lives and dead-end jobs and who are otherwise looked down upon by normal people.
This is probably the short-film he made that takes all of these elements to the most extreme:

I disagree, Family Guy's current animation is definitely worse.
Simpsons is definitely nowhere near where it used to be, but it's definitely not the worst.
