And you know damn well they don’t think they can win a general election with just Republican base voters showing up. You know as well as I do the Republican establishment is out there saying, ‘We’ve got to get independents.’ In fact, they’re more worried about getting independents than they are us,” Limbaugh said on his radio show. He continued, “That’s what Santorum is doing in Michigan. They ought to be patting him on the back. Santorum is implementing their strategy admittedly in a primary election, not general, but he is doing it.” Limbaugh’s defense of Santorum’s strategy in the Wolverine State is in stark contrast to the Mitt Romney campaign’s outrage. Just hours before polls closed in Michigan and Arizona on Tuesday, Romney was busy blasting the robocalls on the campaign trail, accusing his rival of using “dirty tricks” to try to beat him in the state where he was born. “Republicans have to recognize there’s a real effort to kidnap our primary process. And if we want Republicans to nominate the Republican who takes on Barack Obama, I need Republicans to get out and vote and say no to the, the dirty tricks of a desperate campaign,” Romney told reporters at his Michigan campaign headquarters. According to an audio of the call, the brief message asks Michigan Democrats to cast their ballots for Santorum, citing Romney’s opposition to the auto bailouts – “a slap in the face to every Michigan worker.” “Join Democrats who are going to send a loud message to Massachusetts Mitt Romney by voting for Rick Santorum for president,” the call says. Limbaugh, who has not endorsed in the 2012 race but has spoken favorably of Santorum throughout this election cycle, said Tuesday that there is no problem with reaching over the political aisle if it is “done for the right reason.” “There are, and particularly in Michigan, there are a lot of Reagan Democrats who are more socially conservative than there are moderate Republicans,” he said, according to a transcript of his show. “And it’s an open primary state, Santorum’s appealing to them. There are a lot of Reagan Democrats, and Obama has said he’s not going to go after those voters.” The conservative radio host also noted that in “Realville,” the Republican establishment is freely admitting that it cannot be successful by simply winning over its base – a concept that Limbaugh credited Santorum of understanding as the 2012 hopeful attempts to woo Democrats in Michigan. “He’s doing it amidst all this talk that Romney is the one who actually appeals to the independents and the Reagan Democrats,” Limbaugh said. “We’ve heard from the establishment that Romney’s the guy to do that, Romney’s the only guy in this Republican bunch that can go out and get the independents, and yet who’s doing it?”
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0212/73403.html In case you don't know, this is actually because many Liberal pundits encourage voting for Santorum as the candidate so Obama would demolish him. This was viewed as bad for the GOP. Limbaugh is so insane he thinks its good that Santorum gets the nomination. Voting is not done yet, but Santorum has a ~15% lead over Romney.
What is with his face?
What is with his face?
The dark side of the force is finally showing its physical toll on him.
What is with his face?
Which one, Asshole or Ass froth?
Even though they intend to make Santorum lose in the long run, I still see this as a terrible idea. I don't want that sack of shit anywhere near the Presidency.
FOX Update: Romney has a 3 point lead, Santorum is in 2nd http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/02/28/romney-santorum-battle-for-michigan-primary-prize/
Fuck I live in Michigan, I hope Santorum doesnt win.
At least if Santorum wins the nomination there's no way the rest of the country will vote for him. If Romney gets the nomination he might actually win.
i can confirm the thing with democrats trying to sabotage 'ole Mittens Rmoney in Michigan. Some of them going were for Ron Paul, but most of the Obama supporters are going in to vote for Santorum for strategic reasons (and this is something being organised on Reddit too) I think we should be careful, those GOP nuts might come out of their caves and pull another 2000 election on us and have this backfire. (through further election fraud)
or worse, repeat Regan's election. (they said he was unelectable too)
or worse, repeat Regan's election. (they said he was unelectable too)
This guy makes Reagan looks like a political mastermind.
FOX Update: Romney has a 3 point lead, Santorum is in 2nd http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/02/28/romney-santorum-battle-for-michigan-primary-prize/
I'm not sure whether I should be reassured or concerned.
I like how every major news organization has declared Romney the winner in Arizona before a single vote has been recorded.
or worse, repeat Regan's election. (they said he was unelectable too)
Who are you and what have you done to Glaber?
Despite his shortcomings, I would gladly take Romney over Santorum.
Who are you and what have you done to Glaber?
That's GIaber, not GLaber. :v:
Who are you and what have you done to Glaber?
To be fair Glaber seems to be pretty quiet about social politics. He's usually talking about healthcare, and Santorum goes way beyond that.
Despite his shortcomings, I would gladly take Romney over Santorum.
i'd be more willing to let the shit i took this morning run the country than santorum
The "lets all vote for santorum so that in the main election Obama will destroy him" is so crazy it might just work... or should I say, Santorum is so crazy it WILL work.
-snip- i'm wrong
i'd be more willing to let the shit i took this morning run the country than santorum
In all seriousness, I feel that in some ways we'd be better off if we had a President that didn't do anything. Yeah, I'll vote for your shit.
where's Vermin Supreme when you need him
Limbaugh looks like my mom's boyfriend. :c I like my mom's boyfriend.
To be fair Glaber seems to be pretty quiet about social politics. He's usually talking about healthcare, and Santorum goes way beyond that.
But Reagan is the face of the Republican party, he wouldn't do this...
Is it my imagination, or does Santorum look vaguely like Nicholas Cage?
where's Vermin Supreme when you need him
My guess, Ponyville (G3 version), trying to find all those horses.
My guess, Ponyville (G3 version), trying to find all those horses.
Can you please go back to posting articles sourced from from radical Right-wing secessionists with 13-year-olds as contributors? That was much less of an affront to good taste.
Is it my imagination, or does Santorum look vaguely like Nicholas Cage?
"YOU DON'T SAY?"
Cage still can't beat Santorum at the crazy act.
"YOU DON'T SAY?"
so he is a vampire ghost and a shapeshifter?
