I'll let the video speak for itself.
And to think, I expected Protheans to speak in a regal, almost angelic tone. Atleast something to fit their mysterious mood, because when I think "Mysterious", I do not think "Jamaica".

Sounds like a virtualized voice of a European immigrant that spent too much time in the ghetto.

Gah...
Actually makes quite a bit of sense. From what we can tell Africa is the oldest continent. Protheans are the oldest species that we know of. 1 + 1 = ____
I don't see what's funny about it. I think it's pretty cool actually. Never hear African accents in games like that. Plus all you hear is him yelling/in combat dialog. I'm sure it sounds much better when he is just talking.

Well what did you want him to sound like? A white American? I like the South African accent.
Well what did you want him to sound like? A white American? I like the South African accent.
More alien like. Phasing voice maybe? Honestly, they could have gone with so much. Too make it that? Kind of playing their cards poorly.
And to think I expected a formal, and almost ethereal voice like Vigil had, but I guess all that has been thrown out the window. I'd rather that be how Protheans sound like, but apparently not.
yeah that's kind of stupid shouldn't they have like, some made up alien accent. you know, one that implies ancient origins and vast knowledge
Honestly I almost expected a Garrus-esque voice.
I honestly don't want to believe that that's the voice. Sweet jesus.
They could have at least given the Protheans they're own fucking language, lazy move bioware...........lazy and stupid.
My manwich!
My manwich!
This voice is almost as lame as the cries of a crushed greensnake under a sugarcane barrel!
Well what did you want him to sound like? A white American? I like the South African accent.
Less like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1U6DLOdPTdI More like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aV2BzGCoaBo
I kinda expected them to talk like, you know, that one you listened to in the first game? I know it was an AI, and I know that it was corrupted, but REALLY. It had to be at least based on the race that created it...
EY SHEPPAD YA WAN GO TO DA BAR WIT I AND I?
When you talk to Vigil he says that he learned to speak in a manner understandable to Shepard and his crew from monitoring their conversations. You can't really base the rest of the Protheans on that. But at the same time, I don't think that this is the best choice for his accent.
