That's a lot of earthquakes recently in italy. Are they occuring at a higher rate than usual?
I am trying to contact my friend in hope he's ok.
I am worried this is the start only of a series of earthquakes but I hope it isn't
Edit: he's ok, but told me the epicentre is in Abruzzo. I hope the house owned by my grandparents didn't collapsed.
Hope Campi Flegrei doesn't decide to go..

If it does, the whole world will be pretty much fucked.

But for some northern italians....
You know how are some northern italians about Naples. Luckily I aint one of them.
we felt 3 major earthquakes this morning, 5.1, 5.5 and 5.4
edit:
now we are at 4 major quakes, a 5.0 just struck

If it means anything the volcanic ash would certainly effect you.
It's kinda scary to think it would only really take one major event to throw the whole world into chaos. I mean sure, we might only get some ash, but the refugees and impact on the economy would be incalculable.

There's a quake in my boot.

Doesn't that go back to the Roman Republic, due to Naples being a Greek colony?
Ignore me I'm an idiot
Historically, sort of.
It's a type of upbringing distrust, like folks that are raised in the south are told to be distrustful of those different than them. Because that's what their parents taught them, and their parents, and their parents, so on and so forth.
Not really, actually. The animosity between northern and southern Italians began in the later parts of the 19th century and was exacerbated during WW2 and the Economic Miracle of the 60s when many southerners emigrated north (Turin, especially) as a cheap labour force for the northern industries. I don't see how Naples being founded by greek colonists has anything to do with it considering:
A) It's been more than two thousand years since then.
B) Romans greatly admired Greek culture and suffered of a never resolved sense of inferiority for them.
C) Northern Italy was just as foreign to Rome as Southern Italy was, considering the Roman republic was located smack dab in the middle of Central Italy. If we follow your reasoning, Tuscans should hate Romans because more than two thousand years ago they were the main rivals of the Roman Republic. They obviously don't.
D) Naples is a singular city in the region.
Let's not go around spreading historical misinformation, please.

Ah shit son, struck down. I apologize
I have a friend in the area. I'm gonna message him soon and see if he's alright.
What's this about a volcano? More sensationalism, or something to worry about?

No, actually, I'm sorry, I was definitely a bit jerkish in my answer. It's not exactly an historical question people outside of Italy learn in school anyway.
