As discovered by some entrepreneurial gamers over at NeoGAF, Amazon Japan is now shipping videogames internationally.
Previously, Amazon Japan didn’t ship videogames outside of the country and this meant importers needed to rely upon third party options. Often these re-sellers would charge a hefty mark-up as well.
What with the advent of region free consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One, not to mention the PS Vita and PS3, it seems that Amazon Japan is now finally moving with the times.
I wonder what this means for play asia?
Perfect timing for the new Super Robot Wars and Gundam Breaker 3 games later this year actually getting official english translations but only being released in asian territories.
Do they ship other stuff as well then? That would be cool.

books and CDs
If this works out cheaper than play Asia (and it probably will) then that's awesome.
books and CDs
ah shame
i wanted some boss coffee and figurines
I've been ordering from amazon jp to the uk for months, and not even just for games
Hm?
Awww yis

There's a bunch of shit you still can't export
Amazon Global is a filter option
I've exported music cds and 3ds covers from the service
friend's also done figurines with free vouchers he got from curse
Still a bunch small shit I can't export, seller just doesn't do it

Its depends on the seller and product. Some things were already fine for int shipping, some werent.
books and CDs
I really hope this means manga and doujinshi can be bought internationally too, no more needing a middleman that charges you double. Some manga shipped internationally but other times it was japan-only, I'm glad this is happening.
Your original Amazon account won't work for Amazon Japan.
Just tried it.
But it would be pretty fucking silly to order from a Japanese warehouse with Prime. lol
Well that's dumb, plus I don't see why, Prime isn't just fast delivery it's free delivery right? My Amazon account hasn't been used in months because my dad let's me use his Prime and I never get charged for postage plus some stuff comes really quickly.
Afaik games that they sell don't have English subs.
Afaik games that they sell don't have English subs.
Of course
doesn't stop fluent :weeb:s
and if the platform has a exploit, some could patch in translation
Visual Novels on PC sometimes are able to be hooked into to grab text from memory and translate in the overlay
there's alternatives
but it's profits all round, would help decrease piracy

Subs are for the weak. 💪🏼
Subs are for the weak. 💪🏼
Makes me wonder if Helifreak is actually Rog Rogerson
Prime minister of Australia
does this mean i can import titty games now
I tried to import a soundtrack from a titty game and Amazon refused. Check Ebay.
Oh my fucking god yes
Some things just work
A lot of obvious shit already support it
eg. Mario Karts

but a lot don't

prime is localized, even though you can use a US amazon account on most international amazons (UK, Germany, France, basically any non-asian amazon) prime stays local to where you bought it and only applies within those borders, so buy prime in the us, and you can only use it on us amazon, for shipments inside the us.
so does this mean cheaper imported amiibo?
so does this mean cheaper imported amiibo?
Maybe
Amiibo are under twenty bucks here
The price difference sometimes isn't worth the hassle for shipping times

That's because the second one is a third-party seller, not amazon itself.
Are there things you can get for cheaper through Japamazon or is it specifically suited for items you can only get in Japan?

amiibo are under half the price they're over here, but it seems that half of them can't be shipped to me, which is weird

more suited to items only sold there really. things might seem cheaper on the face of it, but depending where you live, the item and the price, you can be hit with quite a nasty import bill
Shit, now my dick has a stronger argument for getting DOA.
My mind is telling me no but my body, my body is telling me yes
Hopefully figurines too soon.

I realise that
most of the products that can go global currently are the ones that imply already that they sell internationally
it's why I called that shit obvious
