After discussing the bill and hearing from supporters and opponents earlier on Tuesday, the House Civil Law and Procedure committee voted 10 to 2 across party lines to return it to the calendar, more or less killing it for the current session. Mr. Jindal’s order, which went into effect immediately and will remain in effect until 60 days after the next legislative session, was issued shortly after the legislators shelved the measure. J. Stephen Perry, the president of the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau, called the bill “bad business for Louisiana.” He questioned whether the governor’s order would have much of an effect. Describing it as “a political statement by our conservative governor in support of his national position,” Mr. Perry said in a statement that the order would likely “have very little practical impact, however, since under the Louisiana Constitution and statutes, and according to on-point court decisions as recently as December of 2014, no executive order of a governor may create substantive law.”
Watch as the people who constantly attack Obama for using executive orders say nothing
What was the fucking point in voting then?
Gotta remember jindal is supposedly also running for president, I think cruize and Romney have better chances than him, but its still scary how many self-centered idiots are in the running [editline]20th May 2015[/editline]
What was the fucking point in voting then?
The OP points it out, he basically got 2 months of "freedom" before the legislature comes back in session and overturns his order
Jindal is also the one that fought hard and long for allowing state education money to be spent on vouchers to pay for private religious schools. Some of these schools' science textbooks very overtly said evolution isn't true and that cavemen and dinosaurs coexisted (in order to explain the fossil record). Jindal got the state to pay for for-profit private schools to teach kids Young Earth Creationism. The voucher schools utterly bombed in test scores, too.
Gotta remember jindal is supposedly also running for president
Here's hoping he gets caught in the act with a neonazi gay prostitute after paying him with taxpayer funds. I don't want Jindal actually dead but his political career can keel over anytime now.
Watch as the people who constantly attack Obama for using executive orders say nothing
Watch as the people who defended Obama using executive orders to go around congress have a sudden change of heart about the use of executive orders. I hate this executive order just as much as I hated the ones Obama did to go around congress. It takes the power away from the people in both cases. The only difference is that other people don't like it when a guy with an "R" next to his name uses it to forward his agenda instead of the agenda they like.
This shit makes me wonder on how fucked up our government is.
