My apologies if we already have one of these, I haven't seen one.

The DIY thread
I noticed our section is mysteriously lacking a thread for questions, guides, or in general any directed topic on "DIY" items. So here we go...
Post your ideas/projects for DIY airsoft equipment like mortars, RPGs, props of things like C4 or basically any object (even , ect. Ask questions for insight on building or implementing these ideas, post guides or status updates on projects, ect. Lastly, Tankman isn't welcome unless he does three hail Maruis and gives us all his equipment to be burned.

I always wanted to make some fancy IED-style prop for a gamemode, but I haven't a clue how to wire that shit so it's "defusable" so it could be used in a scenario-style game.
I know shit all about fancy wiring lol
That's not a bad idea actually, maybe I'll make it a puzzle or something
Have to unplug some wires and plug them into the right sockets or something
Paging Timebomb for his flamethrower, mortars, tank gun, and that goddamn canister...

Let's just crown him king already.
Some good ideas in here...I'm gonna try to borrow some of them and make the local hotshots hate me even worse.

I got other stuff too like some little fake IEDs and pipe bombs fthat use those little pull snapper things as booby traps.

Oh and this little AT gun that I made when I was like 14 and rarely use ever.

Might make a new version that can be towed by my tank whenever I work that out.

Is it the magical flintstones tank with two firing ports and feet for engines?

This as a base:

Tons of potential.
can you take apicturee of the other side of the AT gun?
Its back at my house unfortunately, and Im away at college. I can answer questions about it though.

That is one of the baddest tank concepts I've ever seen, usually it's technicals, cardboard boxes with holes, or some other completely gay substitute. It's terrifying to look at, and it doesn't even have any mounted guns on it.
You should put some kind of "armor" plating (cardboard or something) on the sides, make gun ports, and have a raised seat and turret on top to serve as either a commander's seat, assuming it has more than one crewman, or as a SAW mount.
I was thinking about trying to carving my own 1911 grips out of a piece of white pine. If I manage it I'm going to burn somehing into the center and stain it.
Oh. Is it air powered?
Yeah, the cannon was salvaged from one of my first airsoft gadgets, a recoiless rifle:

The design is stupidly simple compared to most of my new stuff but requires an annoying air pump/complicated CO2 setup. Its just a ball valve cannon with a schrader valve at the back. Hence why it rarely sees use.

Its gonna be a tank, not some silly gun truck. Im thinking more along the lines of a wood frame with polycarb applique armor. You can go pretty far with these designs if you have the right tools/knowledge/number of crazy friends with technical backgrounds.
Case in point (Based off the same vehicle I posted, minus the tracks)
Don't make it look like a M3 lee.
Of course not, Im not gonna replicate anything in particular.
Though it probably will have an MG in a turret, then a hull cannon and a hull MG/flamethrower, so the layout will be at least similar.
make it look like a hetzer
make it look like a hetzer
That was actually the initial idea but I cant make a 60 degree slope because the driver sits too close to the front, the make slope I can have on the front is like 30-35 degrees.
make it a KV-2 obviously

The last one is a blank firing cannon :v:
That second thing is pretty badass too, I have a simpler design that all the guys at the first IFAP meetup saw. Doesnt simulate recoil or anything but it doesnt require the shells either, football just goes right in the breech.

Oh wow, its a 152mm field howitzer :v:
What, it say 3.5 which is like 89mm
Its supposed to look like a 152mm field howitzer I mean, obviously. Look at the muzzle brake
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/38/Haubicoarmata_wz._37.jpg
it has a two hole muzzle brake
the ml20 has slots
ehobby has some cheap ones, dunno about quality

The video I posted you poo, watch it for more than 30 seconds
I'd love to see some tutorials, it might actually encourage me to make a mortar or a cannon or something.
And here's some content, hardly to the caliber of Timebomb's awesome plumbing based artillery pieces but i'm still happy with it.

Old M4 pistol grip + a peice of steel square tubing + glue + screws and washers = foregrip.
Here's a simple sound amplifying flash hider that anyone can make.
Find an old film canister (good luck finding them these days, got mine from photo class) or similar size piece of tubing. Wrap layers of electrical tape around the flash hider until it's a snug fit in the canister/tube. Add some glue and paint and you're done.

Cap can be used either as a safety plug, or drilled out to cancel the popping noise.

Poor mans M203
If you're too poor to afford a M203 but happen to have some grenade shells, then here's a simple and totally impractical way of making your own M203.
Find a piece of PVC tubing that front of the shell fits down. Rubberband it to your rifle. To make a trigger for it, tape a bb or some sort of pin to the front of the lower receiver in line with the button on the grenade. To fire it, simply pump back the tube to trigger the grenade.
Believe it or not I think I fielded this once. Was not worth it.

Poor Man's Mag Guard
Are you tired of losing mags from using piece of shit holsters? Can't even afford that silly Mag Guard? Well here's a DIY for you.
Find some elastic material. In my case I found this black elastic band already sewn together and it was the right size for my pistol. Tie a rubber band to it. Simply wrap the rubber band under the mag and tie it to the other side.

When you want to swap mags simply push the rubber band in front of the grip.

I don't see the point in a poor man's grenade launcher. If you're going to field a grenade launcher you pretty much do it for looks anyway considering price, reload time of spent shells and weight. TM made a 203 replice back in the day that fired from one of these tri-shot shotgun shells. And I do believe other companies made them as battery compartments.

There's a standalone version of one of those sitting under my brother's bed. It's broken, though. It'd be cool to fix it, but i think it's missing a whole bunch of parts.

I had one of those like 6 years back, traded it to my buddy who still uses it to this day for zombies games
Get a gun cheap off a friend who got it from a friend who fell on it and broke it in half? Don't have enough money to buy a new front end kit? Worry not! Home Depot has everything you need.

I have some other stuff I can post in this thread, but I don't have any pictures, so I'll post them later
Some of this DIY stuff looks pretty damn cool. I'd love to make some mortars or shoulder-fired projectiles.
What do you generally use for those? I saw tennis balls in one of the mortars, is that something you'd fire from an airsoft mortar?
