Because they report on a wide variety of things not just wartime stuff. If you visited their site or read their mag you'd realize they have a huge pallet when it comes to the shit they talk about. They can go from cute kittens to Syria. It's their thing and I love em for it.

VICE may not always upload [I]good[/I] content, but they are pretty good about looking into stuff I just didn't know existed.
