For 10 years, the 82nd Avenue of Roses Business Association has kicked off the city of Portland’s annual Rose Festival with a family-friendly parade meant to attract crowds to its diverse neighborhood.
Set to march in the parade’s 67th spot this year was the Multnomah County Republican Party, a fact that so outraged two self-described antifascist groups in the deep blue Oregon city that they pledged to protest and disrupt the April 29 event.
Then came an anonymous and ominous email, according to parade organizers, that instructed them to cancel the GOP group’s registration — or else.
“You have seen how much power we have downtown and that the police cannot stop us from shutting down roads so please consider your decision wisely,” the anonymous email said, referring to the violent riots that hit Portland after the 2016 presidential election, reported the Oregonian. “This is nonnegotiable.”
The email said that 200 people would “rush into the parade” and “drag and push” those marching with the Republican Party.
“We will not give one inch to groups who espouse hatred toward LGBT, immigrants, people of color or others,” it said.
On Tuesday, the business association buckled, announcing it would cancel the parade altogether.
“Following threats of violence during the Parade by multiple groups planning to disrupt the event, 82nd Avenue of Roses Business Association can no longer guarantee the safety of our community and have made the difficult decision to cancel the Parade,” the group said in a statement.
James Buchal, chairman of the Multnomah County Republican Party, said in a statement that his group wants the parade to continue.
“The bottom line is that Portland needs to choose between supporting terrorist thugs and protecting average citizens who want to participate in their community,” Buchal said. “The Multnomah County Republican Party is not composed of ‘Nazis’ and ‘white supremacists’ and those who think we would tolerate marching in a parade with folks carrying swastikas are delusional.”

Can Antifa and their terrorist bullshit fuck off and die already?
Can Antifa and their terrorist bullshit fuck off and die already?
They will soon, and I don't mean with violence, The Authorities are looking at Antifa Already. They have far surpassed a protest group in the eyes of the law.
I live about 30 minutes away from Portland, this is ridiculous. Fight fascism with fascism lol, makes sense.
They are setting a precedent, as long as they say they are gonna fuck shit up the city of Portland will just step down.

Good, this is the same kind of intimidation you'd expect from the KKK...
"What's that? There are Republicans walking out in public?! We gotta shut this down!"

It gets worse, What alerted the Authorities, was someone in Berkley Police Department "may have noticed" that Police Ordinace was taken from their inventories and Antifa Admitted sometime after that they used police resources during the April 15th incident at berkley, not fucking joking.
I hate communists so much. I would have no problem if Trump declared these nut jobs as terrorists.
I hate communists so much. I would have no problem if Trump declared these nut jobs as terrorists.
antifa != communist.
I hate communists so much. I would have no problem if Trump declared these nut jobs as terrorists.
So you're gonna generalize a whole ideology because of one anonymous email and blindly hate them. Actual communists wouldn't bother with disrupting peaceful marches in the name of LGBT rights.
I hate communists so much. I would have no problem if Trump declared these nut jobs as terrorists.
Do you do this a lot
I don't agree necessarily with the methods of some of these clowns, but the cause of anti-fascism is a just one. Especially with the current administration. The GOP represents the toxic, abhorrent, and anti-environment establishment that sadly has taken control of our country. For that reason, they SHOULD be protested in every measure possible.

Yeah branding political opposition as terrorists is exactly what the US needs right now. We should just pull out all the stops and go full-fascism.

To be fair, being a communist is technically illegal in the U.S.

Being against fascism is great, but antifa isn't just that, they're radical leftists who believe political repression (and violence depending on who you ask) is a necessary step in preventing fascists from gaining power. It's anti-democratic, and similar to the authoritarians they hate.

Of that there is no doubt. It almost feels as if they exist simply to demonize their ideals. Its a hypocrisy that is not lost on those on the left of saner mind.

You should let the Communist Party of America know that. :v:
Antifa are only "anti-fascist" is name, but they're entirely fascist in practice. Violence and turmoil as a political weapon to suppress ideas they don't like.

With protest, sure, but not campaigns of intimidation and violence that only discredit them further.
Kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy: "We don't think anyone takes us seriously, so we'll make sure no one takes us seriously..."

It's funny that they think they're left wing, but they in fact have more in common with a right wing ideology.
You should let the Communist Party of America know that. :v:
CPUSA is just social democrats and FBI now. Party of Communists, Party for Socialism and Liberation, and other leftist political organizations are a much better example.
You should let the Communist Party of America know that. :v:
you mean the party that's literally FBI agents spying eachother?
-snip-, double post
the funny thing is that now alt-right and other such types are starting to use antifa tactics. its almost like using violence in an attempt to suppress political ideologies just encourages those ideologies to become more violent in turn instead of actually stopping them
It's funny that they think they're left wing, but they in fact have more in comment with a right wing ideology.
No they bloody don't, fascism is an inherently violent ideology that believes war is good and people need a social hierarchy, an antifa is anyone that thinks that fascism is bad.
You literally can't be a fascist without believing violence is good and desirable to strengthen the nation.

And yet Antifa actively encourages and engages in violence to strengthen themselves. The only difference is that Antifa doesn't have any controlling interest in this country.

Antifa has no interest in strengthening itself as it's not an entity like a party is.
Antifa has no interest in strengthening itself as it's not an entity like a party is.
they are looking to, in their eyes, strengthen the country by eradicating fascism via violence.
they are looking to, in their eyes, strengthen the country by eradicating fascism via violence.
Nothing of value would be lost.
