A battle that has existed for ages.
Despite finding Communism a good idea in theory,It has never really worked out in History.
And Democracy has worked fine until atleast the 20 and 21st century, it seems that people when voting forgot HOW to vote, making voting seem useless as somenody bad could always be elected because of popularity. And the way America is democracy isn't working out with the classes, too many lower classes, and the higher ones always win.
With communism, there are no classes, which seems fair, but the fact all things are owned by the government seems also a problem.
But enough with my stupid babbling, What do you think?
Communism, or Democracy?

Democracy, I believe it is ultimately the better for humanity as a species than Communism/Socialism even if successful.
Democracy:
A political system where the popular masses govern.
Communism:
A socio-economic system where classes have been abolished, democracy instituted, and the economy is controlled by the working class.
A more apt comparison is Socialism vs Capitalism (economic systems), or Marxist-Leninism/Democratic Centralism vs Democracy (political systems). Communism includes democracy, and democracy does not require capitalism.

True...True..
um... why do you have to have either or?
communism and democracy aren't two sides of the same coin. democracy is a form of goverment, communism is an economic system. ideally a utopia would have a democracy with a communist form of society.
the problem is most communist societies were run by dictatorships. Lennin tried to make a democraticly elected goverment but Stalin destroyed it once he died.

ideally the federation in star trek is a Communist economy with a democratically elected governing body.
The problem with Communism is that it's a very ineffective and terrible way to distribute resources. All the revolutions done so far have failed, therefore every attempt at communism in the future will continue to fail.
All that happens is a charismatic man will preach to the masses, overthrow the terrible leader, and then call himself "peoples dictator of the democratic republic of freeland" before shooting anybody who disagrees with him.
Even Russia under Lenin was a shithole and he was a terrible leader.
my FUCKING TEACHER for history would always be like "the communist vs democracy countries" and i would get so fucking pissed off because communism is an economical system and democracy is a political system. so please stop saying this
You can have a communist democracy, what is this thread even for?

Communism exists as a political system as well.
In practice it is a system whereby a dictator rules a country. There is a large bureaucracy, state control of the economy, media, education, etc. The upper classes of the country will be always inside the party, and in the upper levels of the bureaucracy as well. Most people cannot get what they need, and so a massive black market exists, the knowledge of which is well known to the rulers of the country, but they participate in it.
Frequently it will endorse pseudoscience (especially in the fields of biology and chemistry), have sham elections, supply shortages, a backwards military using outdated military strategies and tactics, obsolete weaponry and drill, an incomplete and unbalanced infrastructural system, and generally will slide into economic stagnation once the transition to an industrial economy is made, but will find it impossible to successfully transition into a service-based one without significant reforms or revolution.

Neither of these overthrew the state. They are failures.

Since when do communist governments have to other throw the current government?

Well they can't do very much if they don't control a state.
At present, there are only half a dozen Communist countries left. All of them in name, but representative of Communism regardless.
