Hahaha oh dear that facepunch post.
I wonder why they edited out the ban message
I never knew about that grand theft auto 4 thing before, that's hilarious.
The third one makes me sick in the stomach, what kind of sociopath vindictive piece of shit thought that'd be a good idea? Yeah, let's also flood their computers with lemonparty and post their bank account details and adresses while we're at it. Companies that put obnoxious "measures" like those and delude themselves thinking piracy is that big of an issue are hated for a reason. Though I have to admit the chicken thing was pretty hilarious, if only there were more actual games that let you do that :v:
I never knew about that grand theft auto 4 thing before, that's hilarious.
Bought the game on steam forever ago but the drm refused to let me run it so I had to "yarr" a copy for it to work and could only get halfway through the game before I gave up.
I'm surprised they didn't mention Serious Sam 3, that invincible pink scorpion that would follow you around.
I wonder why they edited out the ban message
They probably took the screencap before the ban occurred.
I wonder why they edited out the ban message
The screenshot they used may have been taken before the ban.
The screenshot they used may have been taken before the ban.

They probably took the screencap before the ban occurred.
The ban was 20 months ago.
GDT's DRM is clever as shit
they forgot to mention that gta iv also put every car you got in into the last level of damage (before it bursts into flames, the black smoke), and made them accelerate non stop (even after you got out of the car i think)
The ban was 20 months ago.
They probably got a picture off the internet that was taken shortly after the comment was posted. I assume now the original has more than 3 ratings to it.
jesus the presenter's delivery is so awful
The ban was 20 months ago.
But the screenshot was taken before the ban. That image was taken from this blog post by the devs.
I have a legit CD copy of GTA IV and the DRM thing happened to me for no reason once :( [editline]23rd November 2014[/editline] i wasn't even using a trainer, it bugged!
this sounds like it was on newsround after bluepeter in 1999
jesus the presenter's delivery is so awful
That line delivery on 4:37 was so bad it makes me wonder if she really was interested to voice the video at all.
GDT's DRM is clever as shit
very amazing
I never knew about that grand theft auto 4 thing before, that's hilarious.
T'was some bullshit my friend. What this video failed to mention is that the game regularly checks to make sure that it isn't a pirated copy. So for instance I would be playing GTA IV and out of nowhere, sometimes 3 hours into playing it, the game would suddenly think it was a pirated copy. Even though I bought my game through It would go wrong for no apparent reason. Also the other glitch would be that as soon as you get in a car the accelerator would get stuck.
I'm surprised they didn't mention Serious Sam 3, that invincible pink scorpion that would follow you around.
Yeah, I'd say that's one of the best ones. That and ArmA 2's where you'd always shoot the innacurate
I'm surprised they didn't mention Earthbound/Mother 2's anti-piracy measure. On pirated copies of Earthbound/Mother 2 the difficulty was FAR higher then in legit copies of the game (ex: enemy encounters were far greater then in legit copies) and if you somehow managed to get to Giygas, the game deletes all your save files and then freezes and crashes.
I never knew about that grand theft auto 4 thing before, that's hilarious.
Even more hilarious is the fact that it could happen in legit copies.
Arma's drm would turn you into a seagull after 10 mins or so.
As much as I hate video game piracy, doesn't installing trojans and posting your personal information seem kind of illegal? Maybe Japan's laws on that are pretty lax
they forgot to mention that gta iv also put every car you got in into the last level of damage (before it bursts into flames, the black smoke), and made them accelerate non stop (even after you got out of the car i think)
I wonder what gta v will have in store for pirates.
The GDT thread was fucking great. Especially when new accounts registered to ask about the piracy lose screen.
